Mine has of late become

Crook's Corner, & S63 Nyala Drive we just love the lushness, tropical jungle look and the peace and quiet with just the myriad of birds calls echoing through the bush.

Crook's Corner itself with the Limpopo River very full.

Down river.

And the signboard giving you the history of the area which is fascinating.

Looking around us we discovered another visitor to the area.
A tree climbing Water Monitor

Then just as we were leaving we heard this lovely duet and discovered a pair of Tropical Boubou jumping around in the bushes making photography very difficult.
A new tick for us. :D

More general scenery showing the lushness and tropical atmosphere.

These are some of the Luvuvhu River seen as one winds along the beautiful Nyala Drive toward Pafuri Picnic Area.

A little way further one of the numerous battle scarred Baobabs in this area.

We stop on the bridge over the Luvuvhu River and just absorb the atmosphere.

The scene from either side of the bridge.

Val, Crook's corner is near Pafuri picnic site in fact along the same road, the S63 Nyala drive.
Its where the the 3 countries join so one can stand there and look across the Limpopo river into Zimbabwe to the left and Mozambique to the right, a wonderfully historic area.

And if you see all the crocodiles basking in the sun , you may be forgiven to think that the name should actually be " Croc's Corner "

Elsa, I have to agree with you that it is possibly the most scenic drive in Kruger. Your pictures really do it justice. I am going to add a spot that always makes me smile.

   Love the sign MM... Made me smile too!

Absolutely lovely photos Elsa. Thanks for sharing! We went there a few years ago (while they were working on the roads) and had to take a detour (that looked a bit dodgy) to Crook's corner. We still laugh at ourselves for winding up the windows and locking the doors!  But the scenery was amazing!

Hi Elsa

Without a doubt that has to be the most scenic drive in the park, who needs the bg five when you have that bush and the remoteness. It is a nice long way from Shingwedzi and is worthwhile a good few hours in the car. But to get to see Nyala's is an absolute treat.
Pafuri picnic spot has also a nice "out of the way feel to it"

love your pics now i must make that booking. :D  :D  :P

Go for it, the most beautiful and scenic part of the park without doubt.
I must add these pics were taken in Feb, we are going next year in May, will be interesting to see if there is any difference?

Elsa , we were there in May 2009 . Vegetation somewhat less dense , but the trees remain majestic :

The animals , especially nyala are magnificent :

Croc's Bar at Crooks Corner is crowded :

Image

And the view from the look-out is stunning :

Image

And of course , the picnic spot is the best in Kruger :

We've done the route 5 times now and I think there has been a speed cop between Baobob Hill and Pafuri every time.
