A song by Koos Kombuis & Stef Bos - Het Avondland. :P
I always get a lump in my throat listening to that song particularly the part "ons toekoms lê in Afrika" (our future lies in Africa).

Earth Wind & Fire - Soweto Interlude,
jabu khanyile- umkhaya lo,
Hubert von Goisern Akipenda,
Jabu Khanyile - Mma lo We,
Jabu Khanyile - Afrika Unite,
Ladysmith Black Mambazo - Mbube Wimoweh,
SENZENINA (of course),
Johnny Clegg of course,
Water Shed,
and one amateure choir, i listened at Swaziland.

"Never , never and never again, shall it be,
that this beautiful land will obtain the experience the oppression of one by another."

Hi Lehari - that "Out of africa theme" omg.
Khadja Nin "Mama" is marvelous - thanks for that hint.

I remember one day, after many times visiting Kruger, i wasn´t able to redo.
Econmomics had changed, job lost on the way to top.
Saw that "Out of africa" movie while ironing my shirts on my own.
Tears came up, many tears.
But times are changing - i did handstands - tried hard and now Kruger will see me every year twice.
And i´m very proud of that exclusive chance. Believe that.

And here it is - my favorite musician - although coming from austria:

The Crossing (OSIYEZA)
By Johnny Clegg

Through all the days that eat away
at every breath that I take
through all the nights I've lain alone
in someone else's dream, awake
all the words in truth we have spoken
that the wind has blown away
it's only you that remains with me
clear as the light of day

Chorus: O Siyeza, o siyeza , sizofika webaba noma
(we are coming, we are coming, we will arrive soon)
O siyeza, o siyeza, siyagudle lomhlaba
(we are coming, we are coming, we are moving across this earth)
Siyawela lapheshaya lulezontaba ezimnyama
(we are crossing over those dark mountains)
Lapha sobheka phansi konke ukhulupheka
(where we will lay down our troubles)

A punch drunk man in a downtown bar
takes a beating without making a sound
through swollen eyes he sways and smiles
'cause noone can put him down
inside of him a boy looks up to his father
for a sign or an approving eye
oh, it's funny how those once so close and now gone
can still so affect our lives

Chorus

Take me now, hold me close
don't let go, I'm coming home

Chorus

Mine is "Nellie the Elephant"!!! which was first performed in 1956 by child actress Mandy Miller.

On our first trip to Kruger in 1976 we only caught a brief glimpse of an ellie, and to encourage more to show themselves, we sang "Nellie The Elephant"!!!

Since then, if we have not seen an ellie we start singing it again!!

In 1995, our daughter Cait who was 9 at the time, was desperate to see one, so we started singing it, and she could not get the hang of the tune. Her brother, Dad and myself all sing quite well and are musically competent, so we could not believe that this child failed to pick up this very simple tune.

We have since laughed about it, and she is now a professional singer, so it just goes to show........needless to say we didn't find an elephant on that day!!!

The last time I went to Kruger I was preparing for The Script's concert in Joburg, I was constantly listening to their music but one song in particular called We Cry. Now every time I hear that song it reminds me of Kruger!

"The sound of silence", by Simon and Garfunkel, but only up and to the gate. Thereafter it is nature's sound of silence.

BB,

For me it's Peter Sarstedt's "Where do you go to (My Lovely)".

I was a young teenager around 1969/1970 and we were driving through the night to get to Numbi Gate and still get some sleep before the gate opened. It was the Easter weekend and we were listening to LM Radio in the car.

We were going to camp at Skukuza with family and friends on their way back from a holiday in Lourenco Marques.

There was quite a long queue of cars at the gate when we got there and the peeps were all very friendly and relaxed. We didn't get much sleep as I was too excited.

"Where do you go to" was played quite a few times on that journey and ever since then, when I hear it, it reminds me of that trip and the great time we had.

And we saw a pack of wild dogs within a few minutes after entering the park the next morning. Talk about luck!

Regards,

Digby.

What about: 'African Sunrise' and 'Out of Africa' of the album 'Out of Africa' by Helmut Lotti?
In fact the whole album is worth it!
Also, 'Heal the World' by Michael Jackson, love it!
