The rules are the same for everyone.

It is peoples' culture, disciplne and respect that differ, plus it is impractical to have a huge enforcement army. That is why photos are relied on to bring some of the transgressors to the attention of the authorities.

I think most people would agree with you BB,but do the authorities follow up on these photos? Are people fined/banned because of these photos?
Are there any records kept with reference to fines/bans being issued?

Take care wherever you are,

Peregrine Falcon.

Did you see the report on the lowlife 'policeman' who wantonly killed an impala. It was seen by traumatized forumites who had the tenacity to bring the sod to book.

BRAVO

I think that having a thread which only contains pictures of wrong doers plus the time and place of their transgression would be powerful.

This way people would get to know that their wrong doings and law breaking is being recorded by folks who are not only watching them, but taking photographs which will be put out in the public domain for all to see.

Its a silent but powerful way of protesting..and better than doing nothing.

Dear members,

I was asked by another forum member to find out if they could send in their pics of folk breaking the rules in the park, and I would like to share the reply from Kruger here with you all too.
Quote:
Yes; let the Forumites send pictures of those people to the Manager: Protection Services, Mr Bheki Nsibande on bhekin@sanparks.org (I have copied him this email). It would be better if the pictures have clear vehicle registration numbers so that immediate action can be taken against them.

Thank you Dalene and team; please continue to assist us in eradicating these problems.

Kind regards

Maybe it is a good idea to put that email address up as a sticky, DB, with the appropriate heading.

Hi all, new here and came across this thread. Having just come back from KNP, i think i've seen it all - we stayed in Marloth Park and i witnessed people with young children teasing a fully grown adult elephant through the fence seperating Marloth from the Kruger - the elephant was mock charging and everyone was snapping pictures and the kids were laughing and shouting !!! I thought that the elephant was going to charge at any minute - luckily we got away before anything happened.

In Kruger Park, i was driving along, spotted something in the road, didn't have time to swerve around it due to oncoming traffic, and ran straight over a broken bottle which then punctured my tyre! who in their right mind throws a bottle out of their vehicle into the road ???

I also saw an Impala that had obviously been hit by a car and dragged to the side of the road. A ranger did stop, but the poor animal looked dead, which i'm sure the guilty culprit didn't even bother to check.

I've seen taxis speeding through there at a rate of knots - they should seriously be banned from using the park as a shortcut because that's all it is to them!

Hello Kiera,

Welcome to the forums..and I hope you have read Dinky Birds post above and will take pics of this bad behaviour and report it to the appropriate authorities in future.

If you would like to tell us more about your trip there is a thread for doing this and we would love to hear about your experiences.

:D

DB thanks so much for the email address - I have been asking for it from SANparks folk for a while but no one seemed able to help. I will send a few now!

Hi arks,

This contact number is for Kruger specifically.

I will try and get similar (if there are) contact details for the other parks.

I think the forum had a similar discussion about sending in pics with SANP a couple of years back. Wasn't it the case that the pictures must include some specific landmark or otherwise recognisable feature to enable SANP to prosecute the transgressor(s)? I think SANP argued that they needed to be able to prove in court that the picture was taken within the boundaries of a national park.
