DB thanks so much for the email address - I have been asking for it from SANparks folk for a while but no one seemed able to help. I will send a few now!

Hi arks,

This contact number is for Kruger specifically.

I will try and get similar (if there are) contact details for the other parks.

I think the forum had a similar discussion about sending in pics with SANP a couple of years back. Wasn't it the case that the pictures must include some specific landmark or otherwise recognisable feature to enable SANP to prosecute the transgressor(s)? I think SANP argued that they needed to be able to prove in court that the picture was taken within the boundaries of a national park.

I don't think that will be a problem. The vehicle's registration nr is entered on their computer system on entry and exit dates.
The problem will be to get the witnesses/the people who took the photo to come to testify in court if the culprit does not want to pay his fine.
20 min. from the nearest gate! I think the Park is calling. Again.

What about the email, DB? Would that be good for reporting from all parks?

Hi arks, apologies, the email addy is also specifically for Kruger.

With regard to pics taken in other parks, we have spoken to Zakiya, and she has asked that members send their pics to moderators who will then forward them to the relevant folk at SANParks.

I changed my hire car half way through a stay in Kruger once. The registration number wasn't changed on my documentation and no one questioned it when we got our exit permit.

Seeing that they allow stolen trucks into Kruger, and then allow them to leave with a full load of wood stolen from the park, they should perhaps also consider running a check on the license plates of all vehicles.

I'll post some pics later in the relevant topic of idiotic behaviour by a group of people at an elephant sighting (first have to get to grips with all the work on my desk).

I only returned back home nearly two weeks after the incident and since they were foreign visitors they will probably be well on their way home by now.

Can photos be handed in at the nearest camp?

One solution is to ask at the nearest camp for the number of the relevant ranger and then call them. They are able to action follow-up, and could maybe give you an email address to send photos to.

In my experience they can yes. I had that at Satara, all I needed to do was show the offense and the licenseplate of the car on the display of my camera and done.

I reported and gave the pics I had taken of an offender to the camp manager and he followed it up with the Section Ranger - the person in the wrong received a stiff fine as a result.
