They are under biological control, as it is impossible to physically remove such plants completely by physical means. Also take in to account that it has been winter which would naturally lessen their numbers.
But I don't think the problem has been solved completely as yet.

I've seen the sign there since my first visit to Orpen Dam in 2006.One major difference to all previous visits was the very obvious hippo pod in attendance. They were definately there in previous years. Might they be the reason for the turnaround. I've heard muted mention of there influence. If they are the major influence it would be interesting to hear whether they made there own way to Orpen Dam or were relocated to there.
Any comments from Sanparks?
