Shutterbug,

I have no info on the Vodacom pickup as I am doing this too for the first time next month.
From what I have read on tripadvisor forum for Johannesburg, it seems a breeze to pick it up. They would have your SIM card ready for your arrival - so it should be quick.

PS I noticed that they took away the R99 SIM card only offer off their website - bastards! :P You will have to pick the lowest cost one which is SIM plus R110 voice for R199. then you can use myVodacom to top it up with data and additional voice...

ThisIsLawrence and Shutterbug, I used this service last year in July. Pickup was quick and easy. I collected my sim card from the store which was located in the international arrivals terminal at OR Tambo. ( turn right after exiting customs through the glass doors and the store is opposite the coffee shop in the terminal). I guess that you may have to wait a bit if it is super busy, but you will not have the issue of having to do all the paperwork.

I assume the process and location of the store has not changed.

For anyone who is using the CellC network in Kruger - this seems to piggy-back on Vodacom so there is normally a good to reasonable 3G signal in the camps. BUT if Vodacom has a problem - then CellC is dropped first :(
