Hi guys,

I will be leaving for Kruger in 15 days and I'm already massively excited! I'll be spending two night at Lower Sabie, 3 nights at Croc Bridge, 3 nights at Pretoriuskop and 2 nights at Satara.
I thought it would be fun and also help me plan if you guys could share your 'must dos' around the areas that I will be staying. So what roads should I drive, what waterholes should I stop at and anything else that you think I shouldn't miss out on!
This will be my 5th trip to Kruger but the first time visiting Croc Bridge and Pretoriuskop areas!

Hi kirsty! Must stop at sunset dam. Lotsa action goes on der.especially towards the evening. Just before gates close.its just outside lower sabie,perfect to watch sunset.

Another spot not to miss is Matjulu loop and dam at Berg en Dal.

Always some action around.
And enough space to park and all near the dam

Book a guided walk from one of the camps .

From Satara? The H7, if need be the whole day. That road is very rewarding.
You have good chances of cheetah, leopard and dogs, especially nearer to Orpen.

In case you don't want to do the road the whole time do the H7, S145, Muzandzeni, Sweni road, Satara route. (Works perfect for photography.)
The S145 is home to a herd of sable. I can imagine you would like to see those?

Robelais loop (S106 near Orpen) and Lake Panic if you pass Skukuza

you must go to Nkhulu for a buffalo pie! super delicious and you can eat it by the river, looking at the birds and resident hippo.

Well Kirsty, you got one already Staying at Croc Bridge!

S25 can be very productive,
so can the first 10 km or so up the tar road.
S28 is Duke, cheetah & serval territory.

Get out as the gates open, the good stuff, like wild dog, leopard are up with the sparrows.

Pkop, well take the Napi loop or a ride doen to Afsaal along voortrekker road, or take the Skuk road, NOT missing Shitlhave & transport dams.

Transport dam is the scene of the most famous youtube lion/buff/croc video.

the S28 between Lower Sabie and Crocodile, Hippo pools, the Napi road early in the morning from pretoriuskop to transport dam and Lake Panic

Didn't see Satara.

The H7 to Orpen can be one of the 'hottest' roads in the park.

From Satara - S100 is a must (don't listen to the others ). Turn left at the T-Junction with the S41 and you will find the Gudzani dam on you immediate right. Switch off engines and just sit and wait, watch and listen. I love the scenery there. Nwanetsi Picnic spot is also worth your while to visit. Enjoy!!

Some Camps offer new activities. One of them is a bush braai. It is a combination of sunset, Night drive and a Braai in the Bush. You will go out with a guide they will organise everything. No Fence pure Nature. Just have a try.

We always had luck on the S100 we saw lions (also a Lion hunt) and there is always action. it´s apitty that you only drive in the South. In the Nord i would recommend crooks corner. But it will be to far.

Always very intresting is Timbavati, if you have luck you can see the white Lions, which must be around Berg en dal which is not that far from Croc Bridge.

Close to Orpen that is Wild Dog Land, just hav it a try.

Two people have mentioned Lake Panic (on the Paul Kruger gate road - take the golf course/nursery turnoff) 4km from Skukuza ... I add my voice to that one!! Favourite place of mine in the park.
Another wonderul picnic site is Mlondozi Dam - 12km north of Lower Sabie - unbelievabale view onto river below - always something to see there.
Another great hide is 15km south of LS - Ntandananyathi Hide (take S28).
