Opinions may vary but why do you like certain areas. Personally I like to hang around satara because we've seen the big five there many times.

i love skukuza, pretoriuskop area
because my first trip was to skukuza and we saw the big five twice it was incredible. but you also see the other animals too like the sable antelope and the roan

Croc Bridge area in the south has always been very kind to me, otherwise H7 and its offshoot have been very productive.

I agree that is a very productive area indeed. We have seen many lion in the area.

let me think ... the area between Pafuri and Croc Bridge would be my favourite, why? just to be in the bush

Lions are easy to spot and the so called big 5 is boring.

I am talking about wild dog, cheetah, leopard, and interaction between species mainly.

Sjoe, its difficult to say, cause every spot and area has his own good and bad memories. I know there will be people that will think how can there be bad memories in the Kruger, but there is!

A few years ago when me and my sister was still young, my parents went to the upper Shingwedzi Punda side. Firstly I loved ellies, but after that trip, we got in so much trouble on numerious occasions with them there, charging our car so many times! At one stage my dad couldnt get the car into reverse, all of us were screaming and crying! And then, that same trip , we had car troubles so bad, we had to go out the Punda gate to look for a Toyota dealer in the old Venda ( Toy an Dow, not sure if its spelled correct ), and my mother, me and sister had to sit in the car for 4 hours while they fixed it! But then, in that area I saw my first leopard kill, so you see, all these things stick!

With Letaba and Mopani I dont like all the Mopani trees, personally I think if you see anything you are lucky, but that was the area I saw my first Wild dogs!

With Olifants and Satara I have no bad memories! Just on the road from Olifants to Satara I saw a Cheetah kill, Lion kill, Leopard with baby and so much more! Me and hubby went on the most amazing new years night drive (31 Dec 09) in Satara, a memory that will last forever! We had a lion kill with a buff on that drive, amazing!!!!!!! And then Tsokwane has the best breakfast in the Kruger!

Going down to Skukuza, Pretoriuskop, Lower Sabie in December 2009 was a first. We didnt know what to expect at all. ( Been there a few times when I was very little ) but what a suprise this was! We love these camps! And the sightings!!! The most leopard sightings in my whole live! And the best lion sight on Voortrekker road! Still have them on my phone as screenssaver and it almost Dec again!
But if I had to choose????????? Definitly SATARA!!

North - The scenery is amazing

Middle - There is a huge amount of animals

South - Amount of animals and it is close

Yeah ossie, but it is the ellusive one. I cannot think of anything more boring than racing around to tick off the big 5.
To find lions, ride the tar roads until you get to a traffic jam.

Each area is special in its own right. It really depends on what a person is looking for. One could drive from Skukuza to Lower Sabie and with a bit of luck probably see at least three of the big five. Just bear in mind you will be sharing most worthwhile sightings with half at least half of the park (it feels like that at times).

I have not been further north than Letaba, so my view is a bit limited. Personally though, I do find the areas around Satara or Crocodile Bridge the most rewarding. The beauty of Kruger remains the unexpected, taking that odd looking gravel road and stumbling onto a pack of resting wild dogs or black rhino feeding on the brush off to the side. So really its what you make of it.

I looooooooove the scenic surroundings of Shingwedzi and as a bonus you get lots of animals and birds and .... and .... and ....
But then again there is Pafuri. Very difficult choice … luckily I don’t have to choose

I agree M , mopani veld holds a special wilder attraction .
Thus anywhere north of Letaba is my favoured area .

I think each part of the park is special for different reasons.

I love the north, the peace and quiet and the fact I can stop and watch a bird without disturbing anyone else or them disturbing me. A trip to Kruger isn't a trip unless I've driven along the river road to Crooks Corner.

However I couldn't spend my entire trip in the north, I only get 2 weeks a year if I'm lucky and a visit to the areas around Satara and Lower Sabie also have to be done to make my trip complete.
