Heksie your IT,

Philip, any pigs with tusks, most domestic pig boars have tusks although not as prominent as say a warthog.

Rooies, the pigs and hippo was just an example and not the only other sources of ivory. Walrus will most definitely be on a list of ivory carrying animals.

Looks like Heksie is AWOL, perhaps preparing for her mammoth Kruger trip? :hmz:

I'm sure Heksie won't mind if I intercede on her behalf here ...

Fact or Myth ...

People may not use cell phones outside of a camp and gate area in Kruger except in cases of emergency?

Myth

The fact that there is generally zero signal outside these areas is neither here nor there :)

Ditto Porridge and Phokojwe.
Not stated in "SANParks Regulations & other useful information".

Thank you for attempting the answer, Three P's (Philip, Phokojwe, Porridge). However, if you look under SANParks, then Parks A-Z, Kruger National Park, Travel, and Park Rules, you will find a clause that says: "A stringent noise restriction is enforced between 21:30 and 06:00. The use of cell phones is permitted only in camps, gates and in cases of emergency." Which means that the statement is in fact TRUE.

Over to anyone wishing to post a new Q ...

Merry Christmas all

Thanks for that, OWN. The grey matter does support what you say, albeit a vague scratching remembrance of reading that self-same clause. Still, I've only had to use my phone once in case of an emergency which cast a dreadful pall over the rest of our trip. In order to make that call, I had to drive a few kilometres to find any semblance of a signal and then stop to make sure that the one bar that I had showing didn't disappear.

Guess you're still IT then

Fact or Myth: This year, Honorary Rangers donated 500 Xmas hampers to the families of Kruger Park Rangers to honour their passionate work in the field?
