Forum Crossword

Unread postby Waterbuck » Tue Jun 30, 2015 9:18 am

I have a plan!! Is anyone keen on a monthly Forum crossword?
I have quickly used a crossword generator to make one up, so that we can "test the waters". Its a bit tricky, because you may need to print it out, fill it in, scan it and then PM back to me, or just jot down the answers in a PM. Or perhaps someone (or a mod) has a better technical/IT solution to creating a online forum crossword????? I don't mind generating one monthly (for now) and perhaps we could even move in the direction of the Bird ID challenge, where they give away a book prize if a minimum number of people enter?

So, let me know what you think. I am no professional crossword maker, but I have based this crossword on animals, parks, plants, places etc. associated with SANPARKS. I have tried to blend in some forum aspects and I have tried hard to make it possible to do the crossword from your desk / lounge (or Google if all else fails).

So here goes the first one - please let me know what you think and please make suggestions around whether this can work and/or any improvements  If there is enough interest, I will post the answers/complete crossword towards the end of July......with a new one?

Love the idea :D

With a month to complete the crossword I am sure I can find the time to do this at some point. But, I am technically challenged and struggling to print this off? :hmz:

Lower Sabie 22/10/15 to 24/10/15
Satara 25/10/15 to 29/10/15
Skukuza 30/10/15
Fly Home 31/10/15

Across :
4. buffalo

and have the 'mites sending it to you only when completed/with all their answers ?

using your cursor select the page from just above the crossword to just below the clues.
cntrl P or 'print'
select 'print selection' rather than all/some pages
and you're hunky-dory

I love crosswords but I need to have it on paper and with a pen in my hand to be able to think. I'll have to have a go at solving it.

Thanks Inyanga, I did it

I also much prefer completing a crossword on paper and so hope it will be okay for me to scan it in and send it off? That's assuming my hubby can do it! :D

Lower Sabie 22/10/15 to 24/10/15

Hi all Forum Crossworders.
Seems that I have sparked at least a bit of interest with the crossword puzzle. As I am not a computer guru, I am not be best person to give advise of how we should deal with the crossword, but:
Inyanga - thanks for the advise on printing the selection. I have just tried it and it works like a bomb!! Alternatively, I have found it best just to right click on the image of the crossword and hit either "copy image" or "save image". If you copy, you can paste into a word or similar document and print it, or if you save it as an image, you can print out that image also.
I hope this helps those of you that want to print out the crossword. Please keep the advise coming and if anybody has any clue as to how we can make this more accessible, please let me know.
I do hope some of you have given the crossword itself a go - I would love to get some feedback

Morning peeps. Thanks for the interests in the crossword so far. Perhaps one clarification:
25 Across would probably read better if it said "Distance Phabeni - Malelane" and not "Distance Phabeni / Malelane"
