I thick you are all doing Safi, i have been quite for a while & this is because of access on internate.but now am glad since am back on the air, by the way how is SA . As Furahini promise that we will continue posting question & learning from you..Yaap i have manage to sign in now the were just a small shida .but i have already solve it.

We had lovely late rains over large parts of our traditional summer rainfall area. So everything is green, and we will have a good winter for the animals.

Good to see you online again. Good to see that you solved the shida kidogo.
I have been traveling around a bit in SA.

South Africa is getting ready for winter! The temperatures are dropping and the sun is going down earlier. The bush is getting dryer what I understand from the people in the bush.
Some places it is cold and you wear a thick jacket in the mornings and evenings.

How is Tnz holding up? Rains have gone or is it still raining? How have the rains been this year? Better then last year?

Hi John!
The giraffe is the family to deer and cattle, but is in a separate family, the Giraffidae, which includes only the giraffe and its closest relative, the okapi.
So Impalas are neighbours only, not family.

The easy answer is, no, they are not antelopes. They belong to a different family, together with only the Okapi which is found in the central African forests.

Any news of our guides?

Dear Formites,

sorry for being quiet for aperiod of time,we have already open our camp but it is quiet busy currently with both guest and preparing our Camp. Secondly we are also having problem with our computer (Guides computer),so thus why we are so quiet but hopefully by the mid of the coming month,it might ok..Onbehalf of Guides of selous it's me Whiteman John.

And this my first question on this new season, Why do southern ground hornbill have two colour(Blue/Red) on their throat while male have only one colour(Red)why should not be on male since male tend to have more colour or beautiful colour to attract female?

Your question is a good question. I am not sure of the answer. But I think that the blue on the female is not that brilliant. In fact, it may be better to have the whole throat red as it forms a more striking picture.

Hi to all forumites and guides of Selous!

It has been ages since I could log on and stay on!
Every time I log on with my laptop it would directly log me off again....

Using a company computer at the moment and having no problems! Very weird!

Hope all of you are doing fine!
Hope that the guides of Selous are doing fine!
I know that there have been a lot of changes in the last times and hope that they will be able to get online again!
The high season is in full swing and it should be very busy this time of year!

Unfortunately we havent heard anything from the guides in a while... They are rebuilding the lodge which might also have to do with it......
