Agree with Timepilot....True.

"It was back in 2002 when it was first found that the African Savannah Elephant seemed to be afraid of honeybees. They specifically will not feed on acacia trees which often contain beehives because of this.

The observations led to the digital playback of bee sounds and observing reactions. This led to the development of the idea that a beehive fence could be used as a way of preventing migration of elephants to agricultural areas".

Welcome back OWN.

TP, Philip, Phokojwe

Heksie, yes, electric fences are one effective way to deter elephants, but it is difficult to cover large areas, they can be difficult to maintain, and may short out easily. Beehives have increasingly been found to be highly effective and, not only can a "beehive fence" be rapidly constructed, it is also a natural way to increase the presence of bees in an area (bees in recent times have been scarce in some places). I would assume, though, that bee maintenance has its own sting in the budget? :hmz:

Over to you, TP.

And before I move on - Peri Peri fences are another cost effective way of minimising elephant / human interaction - I believe this is being used in Mozambique.

Now, for the statement.

T or F: Chloroquinine is still the most effective means of preventing malaria and is used around the world without issue.

Thanks for the additional info, TP.

FALSE; malaria parasites have become increasingly resistant to chloroquine in many parts of the malaria areas of the world.

True or False: The world's largest remaining population of cheetah is found in Botswana?

False, there are two large populations left, one spread across Namibia / Botswana and the other Kenya / Tanzania.

I'm going to give it to Philip because, although Timepilot and Phokojwe identified the remaining stronghold populations, the world's largest remaining population of cheetah is actually found in Namibia.

:) True or False?: Crocodiles' digestive juices are so strong that they can digest steel nails.

 A crocodile's stomach holds so much acid that it can even digest a spear head.
