OWN,

According to other sources and management plans the park covered 96 ha when it was proclaimed in 1999 . Wonder why the SANParks info say 4 ha.

The Agulhas National Park (ANP) was proclaimed in 1999 with 100 hectares of land around the Cape Agulhas Lighthouse. To date a further 16 700 ha have been added, but the eventual plan is for a park of 120 000 ha. The chief aim of the sanctuary is to protect the rich – and often threatened – lowland and coastal fynbos that occurs in the area, and to develop the natural resources for the benefit of the local people. SANParks' mandate also includes the conservation of the cultural assets of all population groups in the areas under its management.

Thanks Son Godin. I took the info from the SANParks website, assuming it correct; perhaps we need to check with them about accuracy.

A few hours back? You could have flown. Okay, assuming you drove ... hill, swim, sea ... :hmz: ... could be several coastal parks, I imagine ... for example, you could have swum at PE and them taken up your accommodation on the small hill at Mountain Zebra?

:hmz: - a few hours back had a swim in the sea?? :hmz: Presumably then it is not a coastal park and with the entrance on a hill - that eliminates most of the others

On the way to this gate I dodge potholes, drive next to an old canal, and notice that a lot of timber is being made into charcoal in the area. This park is bigger than Tankwa Karoo. Keep guessing and start to think in Portuguese.
