I agree - although the last part is the only bit that is invariably true. There are some folk who choose or even make their coffins ahead of time!

Rooies.
EJ, thanks for the lateral spin on things. I can't imagine why one would want to plan how special one's coffin is; but then, I suppose, even in death people want to appear a certain way to the world. "Ooohhh, look, her coffin was the best I've ever seen." :? I believe rather in living out life, however long that will be, and making my impression now. But each to his own.

I'll include some Visual Puzzles next - all you have to do is to generate a phrase or common concept from the clues. Please note that these are googlable, but rather stimulate the neurons and don't look them up - the satisfaction gained therefrom is much better!

PLEASE DON'T POST THE ANSWERS HERE SO AS TO GIVE EVERYONE A CHANCE TO FIGURE THEM OUT.
PLEASE PM ME THE RESULTS.

Okay, it seems people are struggling with what to do here. Let me give a pointer or two: you need to form a separate phrase or concept for each clue. Here is an example:

HE
ART

Which translates into "Broken Heart"! (Get the idea? The word "heart" has been broken into two?) :D

So, can we have some smart people PM'ING me some of the results above, please!

Thanks for trying, and getting the brain into gear, Rosemary. And, well done on getting numbers 1 and 6.

1) BUR is indeed rub spelt backwards, so translates into BACKRUB.

6) Adding two MARY's is indeed a SUMMARY.

Let me give a few clues on the others to speed a solution there:

2) Two of the feet are spelt backwards, but one isn't. What does that remind one of? An activity of sorts.
3) Read from letter to letter.
4) Think of another word for a thousand.
5) and 7) I'll leave for now.

Happy thinking.

@Philip, you came pretty close to getting the last one, which is actually the most difficult.  on your attempt.

A very well done to Ecojunkie and Rosemary - your minds are commendably sprightly and sharp!

For those of you that tried and struggled, the answers are as follows:

1) B U R = BACKRUB

2)

T E E F
F E E T
T E E F

= TWO LEFT FEET

3) H I J K L M N O = H2O

4)
1 0 0 0
S T A N D

= GRANDSTAND

5) H O R O B O D = ROBIN HOOD

6)
MARY
+ MARY
------------
------------
= SUMMARY

7) O _ ER _T _ O _ = PAINLESS OPERATION
