This should be easy for you boffs

The heartwood is dark brown, exceptionally hard and heavy, an in former times (before the introduction of metals) was fashioned into blades for hoes, an outstanding fuel-wood.

The gum is edible, ash is used as toothpaste and as a substitute for whitewash.

Golly this is interesting.

Leadwood ... Combretum Imberbe .... (Omukuku) ....

The magnificent leadwood is a medium to large, semi-deciduous tree, which grows up to 20 m in height. Combretum imberbe is the tallest of all the South African combretums.
The leaves are eaten by kudu, impala, red lechwe, grey duiker, elephant, giraffe and the last two eat the branches as well.
The leaves are believed to have magical powers.
The leadwood is a protected tree in South Africa.

Hi all

I am glad to see that the tree quiz is being enjoyed by everyone. We certainly have some pontential dendrologists here. As Zippy Zebra said the more who take part the merrier.

Good luck all for the the rest of the questions. (Though with what all I have seen you guys don't need it as you are so good already.)

Now lets see what kind of question or latest winner will throw at us.

Hi all

From now on the is a 72 hour (3 day) deadline for forumites who answer questions correctly to submit their questions, if they fail to meet the deadline I will submit a question in their place.
Since Jifthibeau has missed the deadline I will submitt a question in Jifthibeau's place

What type of tree should you never use for fire wood?
