OK - another guess.

Could it be the springbok - Antidorcas marsupialis?

Not only known for their "pronking" but also for winning rugby World Cup trophies for SA!!!!!! :dance:

Australia is home to most of the world's marsupials (mammals with a specialised pouch in which their young are raised - for example the kangaroo).

Lets see............OK here goes:

Although I am a mammal, my scientific name was first used for an insect! (No resemblance however). Only in 1962 the use of this name for an insect was suppressed, and was this name rightfully given to me.

However it is not the klipspringer - there is another mammal with the same genus & species name.
