I will have one within the next couple of hours. It will be about mousebirds, so dust off your mousebird books off and wait for the question.

So here it is;

Mousebirds and reptiles have something in common. What is this?

No guesses? If you read the answer, you will kick yourself. The answer is very obvious and need no scientific explanation.

Time for an answer. A mousebird is able to regulate its temperature. It can go down as little as 26 degrees. Just like reptiles, they sit in the sun on cold mornings, facing the sun. They lift their feathers to expose the dark skin to the sun. This way they are able to up their body temperature to the 'normal operating level'

Anyone with a question?

OWN looks like a busy man and I don't think he will mind if I throw in the next one.

A new Zealand shorebird, the Wrybill, is unique among the world of birds in that its beak bends approximately 20 degrees to the right. Why is that? The birds we know have bills that bends either upwards or downwards.

The Wrybill uses the bill like a hook to gather insect larvae and eggs from beneath stones, or as a spoon to scoop crustaceans from mud.
The Wrybill or Ngutuparore (Māori) Anarhynchus frontalis is a species of plover endemic to New Zealand
