It would vary tremendously according to the ecosystem and population dynamics.

It can be as small as 27.2 km2 around the Sabi river in KNP and as large as 1370 km2 in the Kgalagadi. Even within KNP it differs with an average of 76km2 around the Doispane area in KNP.

The average I was looking for was 76km2; but yes it does differ.

Adult leopards are loners and mostly actively avoid each other, especially where non core parts of territories overlap, or where different sexes share the same territory.

How do they ensure that they do not meet by accident?

Scent marking as well as their territorial calls broadcasts their presence in a particular area.

Sorry Lettuceleaf711, here it is

Inspired by some unknown reason to think of Lettuce I began thinking of meat(so much better) so the question..

Carnivores are opportunistic feeders and can never guarantee success in making a kill or finding a carcass to scavenge on any particular day. The "smash and grab" attitude to food shows this. This in turn causes the need for a highly elastic stomach ( think of the Lion that has just chowed 40kg of meat and lying belly up). But a stomach bulging with big chunks of raw meat creates problems or a major problem... What is this problem and what is nature's solution to this problem?
