Have just returned from first stay at Tamboti. Didn't know what to expect but am now a convert. Pretoriuskop was favourite but after 3 days at Tamboti......... Have booked Letaba for next year but am being nagged to change to Tamboti by person who finances these trips!

Best in KNP for me must be Nhlanguleni picnic spot. Very peaceful, and my children love playing baboon in the trees. I would certainly live there forever

I cant choose. I've only been at the south up to Tshokwane picnic spot. I am going to the Mopani and Shingwedzi in Dec and still then it wont be fair to choose. Must see the whole of Kruger first but even then I will still just choose Kruger cause I just wanne be there always, everyday, forever.
Just take me and plant me on any spot in Kruger and I will just be Happy Happy Happy

My favourite pastime in the Park is sitting at a waterhole.

The less traffic the better.

As far north as possible is always good. (not too far, you can't get there often enough.)

A little shade is nice.

First impressions last: at this spot a cheetah came down to drink and was chased away by a herd of zebra!

Answer: Bangu waterhole

Unfortunately, the wet cycle has made this spot rather unproductive over the past few years, but I always stop there for a quiet enbrochette. (WTM)

Isnt Bangu just the best ...Spend my life there when we stay at Balule....BEST Waterhole South of OlifantsRiver. Coming to think of it I cant realy think of a better waterhole North of Bangu either but I will give it some thought.

Yes, we spent 3 great days in Sabie.

Three weeks ago today, my father, Jerry Hattrick, made me drive from Tamboti, near Orpen gate, to Mantambeni hide, just north of Letaba and back.

We always see a lot of eles there and many waterbirds. It holds special recent memories for us.

He always enjoys it and in his 80s he is becoming a birder. Great isn't it.

My favourite places in Kruger are those places that have ancient and beautiful trees. Places like the Appleleaf woodland on the S94 close to Letaba, Letaba itself, Shingwedzi river frontage and the Mphongolo.

However my all time favourite place is Pafuri, with it's Fig tree forests (old picnic spot), Fever Tree forest, Baobabs, mature Mopani woodland and one particular spot - a deep shady cluster of Mahogany, Jackal-berry and Nyala trees which is heaven on earth for me.

I don't know if anyone has the same "fetish", but I love watching fish from a stream crossing or bridge.

Few know that Kruger has one of the biggest and healthiest stocks of indigenous fish in its rivers, streams and dams, something that is becoming as scarce outside the Park as in most countries.

Try watching the huge fish in the Olifants, for example, using binoculars from the High-water Bridge on the highway. (Clear water permitting.)
