For me it is Mathekenyane.
I have been privileged to spend a few sunsets there and it is a place of unbelievable beauty and atmosphere.
I feel as though I am in a Cathedral and heaven touches earth.
The moment of sunset is a moment of consecration.
This place honours that special moment.

The most stunning spot of KNP is when we enter the gate of Phalaborwa. That's always a great moment to have your first look into the KNP bush. And of course there are so many favourite places in KNP and every time we discover new great spots, so maybe in 10 years time, I can tell you which place is number one for me.

Discovered it during the firs hours of day as a gem to see the bush coming alive. Feast your eyes on Kruger and you can see as far as the Drakensberg . Best place imo to feel and hear the wind.

Thanks for the picure Bert. I have sat on that rock and seen some of the most stunning sunsets of my life. I hope to see another one in just over two weeks time.

Hi Guys

I must be honest with you but i was under the impression that Satara wat the best camp in KNP but we went to Tamboti  in March 2006 and believe me that is definitely the bush veld at its best.

Definitely going there next year from the 23 - 26 July 2007!!!!

Hi Elfreda and Welcome!!

Everyone has different favourites, but Tamboti is a favourite with many forumites. My personal favourite camp has always been Olifants, but I stayed at Tamboti for the first time this past May and it now shares the honours with Olifants as my co-favourite

We've stayed in a few camps now, but my favourite still is Balule. The ONLY camp where you can actually feel like you're all alone in KNP. The bigger camps are just a bit too busy for us. And loud. We had foreign neighbours on our last trip that kept us awake untill 1:30 am with laughing and baboon noises etc  , after I asked them to be a bit quieter at 09:00 pm already!!! :x So give me the tranquil peace of Balule anytime!!!! :D :D I must say though, we haven't been to Tamboti yet, and that will be our next stop in KNP.

Outside of Orpen gate for starters, is a wonderful sight. It means we are about to start a trip.

Tamboti is the best camp for value.

Matambeni hide always has something happening.

The view outside the restaurant at Letaba does it for me.

S100 and H7 are my favourite roads.

The greatest area is north of 26:29' S and south of 22:25' S

However depending on the time of year "best" spots for viewing action may vary.

Now if you just wnt to experience that emotion of being content and spiritually at ease, then being under the big trees next to the Levuvu between Crooks Corner and Pafuri P/site is what does it for me!!!!

Wow. I finally found this thread again. I orginlally posted it in a very different spot. Funny how I wasn't informed about it. :? Finding it was like looking for a needle in a haystack. At one stage I thought it had simply been deleted off the face of the planet. I did't want to ask as I think I should have been told.
Perhaps this thread is more appropriate for this section of the forums - that's not the point, it was the way in which it was done... :?

It might be helpful to know that you can always find all your posts by clicking on your profile and then on the Find all posts by your username just above your location.

The moderators really do try to send a PM to everyone when they move a thread, especially the new members. I must say we do kind of rely on the older members to find moved stuff themselves and they usually do. At the moment we are short of 3 moderators and things have been a bit hectic. Please send one of us a PM if you have any questions.

Nice one Selmarie.
It IS a great spot.
I'm happy to hear that you are having fun. That's the way these forums should be. Be warned though, it can become very very addictive almost like the KNP itself is very addictive.

Favorite spot...hmmm.... this is hard to answer -there are so many! For me personally though, any river road is a favorite spot. I drive my family nuts because I insist on being on the side of the river (which means I'm forever switching places with people  )

Some of those river turn-offs along the Sabi River are divine! I could just sit at one of those for hours! The look-out over the Nwanedzi River, east of Satara is good too....Nkumbe also!

Tamboti gets my firm vote. Even when nothing is happening, just that peace & stillness makes the rest of the universe fade away !!!
