Please confirm - someone told me that there is a new picnic spot near Skukuza? I thought I knew of all the hot spots - anyone have further info??

Thanks! :)

Woodlin, there is a relatively new picnic site for visitors about 2 or 3 kms outside of Skukuza. Has been there for a while though. There is a lovely pool and if I remember correctly a smallish take-away kiosk.

Yes, they have re developed the day visitors area.

Quite nice now, with a swimming pool etc.

Is it possible to hire a braai skottel/pan at the Masorini picnic site?

I've read elsewhere that you can hire Skottel and braai equipment at the picnic spots but can you buy the food to braai there too?
If we are out on the road and pop into somewhere like Tshokwane or Nkuhlu can we get eggs, sausages etc. there or do we need to bring those from the main camps??

You need to supply your own.

Its much more enjoyable to do your own.
Do your eggs, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms toast ..... mmmmmm ...
The staff will clean the skottel for you afterwards.
Just remember to take margarine and matches.
They will also supply you with boiling water for your coffee/tea.
Nkhulu is just the best to have breakfast at.
Nothing better than overlooking the river and chilling.

A skottle brekkie at any picnic area is great.. we take large hamburger buns and put our "brekkie" onto the buns straight from the skottle, saves taking lots of crockery and cutlery. However you may have to cut back on the amount ingredients depending on the size of the bun.... BUT easy to prepare and easy to eat
Have a great day everyone :)

Out of interest, (this might deserve its own thread), a couple of months ago I purchased a teflon skottel liner at PnP Hypermarket in Norwood.
Its made by Metalix, a South African company.
They're much easier to clean than a skottel, and you don't need any oil to cook with.
So far they've proved to be great items, and I've bought a few for friends and family and have had very good reviews.

Apologies if this question has been asked recently.
We will be visiting Kruger Park the week after Easter weekend and I would like to know if it is possible to take our own gas braai to use at the picnic spots?

As this will be a very busy time in the Kruger, I presume the picnic spots will be very crowded and taking our own gas braai might be useful?

While staying at satara I visited Tsokwane, Nwanetsi, Timabavati and Muzandzeni picnic spots.
I can happily report that everything was ideal at the picnic spots :D
Every spot had an attendent, gas, gas braais, spotless clean in terms of litter

Here are some pics of Muzandzeni

Here is the attendent doing his job with a smile and having a chat wit me!

He said before I got there he saw a leopard  Pointed in the direction it walked off into the bush. Nice guy :D

This really is a magic spot in Kruger
