It should be noted that a ‘Bush Kitchen / Boskombuis” which will offer a limited menu and limited seating capacity will be operational in the Day Visitors area during refurbishment.

None of the old slow service. None of the expensive questionable food quality !!

In fact it quite a sight now!!

I think my only ever complaints on this Forum have been about the Satara restaurant - the quality and the terrible (TERRIBLE) service, so this is very good news indeed. :D

Hi All,

I was in Satara on the weekend. I have made use of the coffee shop in the day visitor's area and all I can say is wow!! I can't remember the last time that I was pleasantly surprise as I was on Thursday morning. Brilliant helpfull friendly service. Excellent food! You have to try the PAP Omelette

I can't comment on the safety aspects as I do not know the laws regarding this but I did feel very safe with my 1 year old son running around.

I was able to confirm with the staff though that Mugg and Bean will start renovating soon.

Well Done Satara!!!!

P.S. the shop is a different matter. Not once was I in the shop without them having a shortage of change and having to wait for them to get some. Might be due to the coin companies but it really was a pain and several people walked and just left their purchases at the counter.

And the alternative view.

My partner collects change and likes to be able to pay with the correct money at all times. We once spent 10 highly amusing minutes with the ladies in the shop at Orpen while they exchanged all his loose change for notes, once they had spotted that he had loads. We gathered from this experience that there is a shortage of change throughout the park. So please don't always blame the shop assistants, they really do their best under very trying circumstances. It's not as if they can pop next door to the bank to get more change, now is it?

I also have paid with my collected "shrapnel" at various park shops and it is always appreciated as the tills are invariably short of small change. While I don't purposely "collect" it, the "shrapnel" does always seem to collect and I am always happy to be rid of it, so a mutually satisfactory exchange

Great idea, saraf and arks!! I frequent a take-away place nearby (bad girl!) and they are always so happy to take some of my coins off me. Most of my larger shopping is done with credit card but somehow I seem to accumulate coins and they are heavy and take up too much space for their worth!

Whipper, if you look on page 4 of the new restaurants in Kruger thread, Elsa posted the media release from sanparks, there they say that the Satara restaurant will be a Wimpy, so unless something has changed I take it that Satara will be a Wimpy and not a Mug&Bean

Good news: Satara's Mugg & Bean restaurant and M&B "On the Move" snacks outlets, as well as a full Debonairs Pizza facility were operating this weekend.
The furnishings and décor were very appealing and all 3 facilities appeared to be hugely popular. (particularly compared to the very quiet Compass operations still operating at Olifants).

We ordered Mugg & Bean take-away toasted sarmies which were prepared very quickly and tasted great! Only criticism I have is that they got both orders wrong, but the manager was quick to replace these with correct orders with no questions asked.

Overall: I must compliment them with a 4/5 and I wish both operations well!!

Visited last Friday and have to agree with Riverrat.
We had a sit down meal which was delivered promptly, and was tasty and hot.
A vast improvement on Compass..............well done Mugg & Bean.

Was at Satara for 2 nights, meals were great. Service very good. Menu from what I could see is the standard Mugg & Bean menu.

Bryce who was involved with the setting up will be moving to Letaba to help with the setting up there and will then be staying there. Nice to chat to as he goes out each morning early, so could provide information about what animals are seen where most often.

Mopani's service sucked. Waited more than 30min for the bill.

Pleased to hear about Satara.

Mopani :naughty:

Good to hear abut the new restaurants at the camps. We are planning to go next year Aug/Sept
and as we will be caravaning we will probably support them with mainly take-aways from time to time. I must give a good tip: Before we leave I collect a lot of change and R10 and R20 notes, so then when we go to Kruger shops etc we give them the correct amount for what we buy - they are far from banks and they must run out of coins from time to time. So instead of holding up the queue when they scratch for change for a R100 or R200 note, rather give them the correct amount and they will be thankful as will the people behind you. Also take plenty new and old R2 and R5 coins for the washers and dryers.

Listen here for really good, practical advise.

I am delighted to learn that Satara now has a Mugg and Bean and not a Wimpy!

Has anyone got any photos yet of the new restaurant at Satara, would be interest to see what Mugg & Bean and Dominoes is like there as only visited in February and won't be going again for some years, unfortunately. :(

According to the official SanParks media release the restaurant and coffee shop at Satara should have opened in April. Has anyone eaten there yet and what are the reviews?
