Standard M&B menu has a good selection of food.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, but food was inconsistent and long waiting periods for dinners (about an hour)

I am sure that problems will be ironed out in future.

Lawrence, I think you were just unlucky, we had supper at the M&B at Satara and did not wait long at all
Service was great and the food was really nice

We had supper at M&B in Satara on 30 May, and both the service and the food was excellent. It was as good as (if not better then), any other M&B we've used in Gauteng :)

We also saw some of the new delivery trucks on the roads - driving at a sedate pace (looked like less than 50km/h) and creeping past sightings, showing utmost respect for tourists and animals alike. All I can say is WELL DONE!

   If the drivers of the delivery trucks supplying provisions for Mugg and Bean and Debonairs continue doing so, that is showing respect for the nature and the animals, Mugg and Bean and Debonairs might even become legendary in the Kruger National Park. Visitors Appreciate and Notice those good things in a big way.

Mugg and Bean and Debonairs it seems that your investment in good conduct and practices for your employees and those with whom you associate with (the delivery trucks) already has good return on investment. Please keep it up.

We ate there on Thurs 12th June and the service was bad. We normally don't eat at the restaurants, but our party decided to have a change from braaied food.
The waitress got items wrong and apparently the kitchen then mixed up our order too, the service was exceptionally slow (almost an hour for the food) and we were told they had run out of eggs, so we couldn't order omelettes. The one salad was nothing but a bowl of lettuce - was supposed to have vegetables and cheese. When we complained, nothing was done about it.
Some of the patrons got up and left before they were served and some even cancelled items so they could leave. They seemed to be short staffed and there didn't seem to be a manager in charge - only a hostess.
What a pity - the restaurant is stunning, and hopefully thing will come right.

All in all a disappointing experience at Mugg and Bean, Satara.

Looks like Satara M&B is going backwards and not forwards - we spent two nights there last week and were very very disappointed - especially after the exceptional experience at Lower Sabi. We walked out after 3/4 of an hour wait for two drinks. EVERY table around us had some or other problem. The manager was walking round like a rabbit in headlights. The next morning we waited for ages for takeaway tea and coffee and when I commented the manager scuttled to the back and left the flustered staff trying to deal with somebody's credit card. He did the same thing in the evening at the restaurant when we went back to try to get a meal - when I asked questions he just disappeared instead of trying to find out what the problems were. Really not good enough. How on earth does LS get it so right and Satara not???/

Just to let you know that I contacted M&B customer care and they had the manager from Satara phone me direct and he was very sorry about bad service we experienced and he assures me that they are working hard at ironing out the teething problems

Thanks for that feedback, Suebfly. It is good to know that your bad experience has been taken seriously.

I emailed Mugg and Bean .... I got a reference number and then I got an email stating they wanted to contact me but couldn't get through to my cell which kept saying my number doesn't exist. The number is correct as I checked my email, still heard nothing.
I emailed again ...... still no response.
So much for their customer service.

Suebfly were you eating there on Thursday evening by any chance?
There was a couple sitting behind us who also experienced poor and slow service, so I was wondering whether it was you.

Fee - we stayed at Satara last Friday & Saturday, so not us.

I contacted M&B via their Face Book page and they answered all my messages within a very sort period of time. A while after I received the call from Satara I received another call from head office also just checking up. All very impressive & efficient but I hope they actually do something about our feedback and this is not just good PR on their behalf

I would think that Mugg & Bean will want to rectify this as soon as possible.

The Satara restaurant had such a positive start, that M & B will surely want to see that it goes from strength to strength............hopefully anyway!!

They are there to make money, and bad reviews that are not followed through will not help them achieve that.

I have now replied three times to Mugg & Bean (by email) confirming that my cell number is correct.
I still haven't had any response.

If their management couldn't be bothered with their customers, I now understand why their service is poor.
Thank goodness I don't treat my customers the same way.
