I had a quick chat with Rofhiwa Nedididi from Lower Sabie and he confirmed the following
Current renovations to units BD2U (old map BG2U) Numbers 66 – 72 will be completed on or before 3 December 2013
All other renovations in the camp is scheduled for completion for the same date
Renovations to BG2 23 – 30 will only commence mid January 2014
There are no scheduled renovations or ongoing works for the period 3 December 2013 to mid January 2014
(Possibly due to the annual construction industry December break)

Keeping my fingers crossed that Lower Sabie will be its tranquil self over the 2013 Christmas Holidays

Thanks RemiE,

That is good to hear

Many Thanks

BerkiSA I don’t recall Rofhiwa saying that there is any work being done in that side of the camp. According to our conversation construction was only ongoing to the East of the Restaurant. Some BD2U and other units. Knowing the construction industry, I’m sure that by the time your there they will be finishing up on all works ie paint, ect. So doubt it will be noisy. Either way, you could always confirm this on your reservation letter. They will note it there if construction is underway.

Hello RemiE,

Thank you for your response. I hope that there will not be an construction on the tented area during the period. There is no mention of any work on my reservation letter. I will attempt to contact Lower Sabie.

Have a lovely week.

Best Regards,

Dear All

Please note that there are couple of renovations lined up at Lower Sabie. Some will be completed this year, while some will continue next year. However, the camp management has made a decision to stop all the construction work by 15 December 2013. The constructors will be back in the camp on 8 January 2014.

Thanks Stephens,

Can you perhaps advise what units will be renovated?

I am in the riverview tents from 1-4 Dec, I would prefer to change camp if there will be lots of noise etc.

Many Thanks

Hi, BerkiSA

It is difficult at this point in time to determine which unit they will be renovating on the date you specified. The constructors have their own way of doing things. They might start from unit 5 and work backwards or start from until 1 and work forward depending on their programme of the week. Sometimes they stop if they are still waiting for the supplier to deliver materials. So all those things makes it difficult to tell.

Perhaps you can liaise with the camp one or two weeks prior to you arrival.

StephensL, we appreciate your prompt and informative responses. Thank you.

We are staying next month at the three-bedded communal huts in the old part of Lower Sabie camp, close to the swimming pool. Do you know if this will be close to any of the renovation areas?

Hello Stephens,

Thank you for your updates.

I understand but logistically it is difficult as the camps are full closer to the time. My main question is whether or not there will be work done on the permanent tents or whether it will just be the bungalows?

Have a lovely week.

Best Regards

berkisa..

if you are in the tents then you will not be affected at all as the construction is way on the other side of the camp from where you will be.....,

Just spent Thursday and Friday night in BD3U #24 at Lower Sabie and we were directly opposite units 71 and 72 which are some of those under construction, despite reception assuring us we were not close by! Workers arrived at 07h00 and finished at 16h00. Lots of chainsaw noise which was a pity. Try to get units away from here if you can as it definitely has an impact on your peace and quiet.
