Hi Tentdweller

Phalaborwa is a good place to enter and then up via the H14, is a very nice drive. Enjoy. Came out that way on the 1st May, back via Tzaneen and Polokwane

Causeway below the camp not yet repeared

We are finally able to sneak away to our beloved Kruger for 4 days next weekend  :D . We are spending the entire time at Shingwedzi (only accommodation available in the park at 10 days notice) - a camp that we love - and were wondering what the status of Kanniedood Dam and hide is since the floods (as we haven't been able to visit since they occurred.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Hi cathyb, friends of mine went there in May and they told me that you still can't access Kanniedood hide :wall: , not sure if it changed since then

Dear All

Please note that the Kanniedood birdhide at Shingwedzi is currently open after the January 2013 floods.

Hi cathyb, was at Shingwedzi in April this year ('14) and hide was perfectly accessible with great birding incl. ground hornbills wandering by... :D . The hide was in good shape. Perhaps it was just a temp access problem with grading roads or so in May?

We were there in May - hide was open and accessible. Causeway re-opened 15 May and, as far as we know, is still open.
