I have just read the advisory on the home page that Kruger gate should be avoided due to "picketing " activities.
This now means that only Phabeni gate or long delays to Melelane gate are option for the southern area.
As an international visitor I would ask SanParks to ensure that Phabeni is adequately staffed to allow for the increased numbers using that access, and that they put pressure on local authorities to ensure that all guests can arrive safely and without major problems.
Kruger is probably the major tourist attraction in SA and I think it gives a bad impression, especially to international visitors, when these disruptions happen.
I would hate to think that the only safe and convenient way to visit KNP was to fly in ti Skukuza !

I think the picketing you are referring to took place in January Afriphile? :hmz: I can understand why you might feel that this gives a bad impression of Kruger but remember that these types of things are largely out of SANParks control, they will warn visitors of general unrest so that tourists can enter the park at other gates. You can also phone the gate where you want to enter beforehand and find out if you should rather avoid that particular gate.

I am sure SANParks are doing everything they can to cope with large numbers of visitors at the various gates to ensure that entry into the park is done quickly and efficiently.

Hi JeanniR,

there was a facebook post today or yesterday regarding the picketing. Maybe it increased?

Unfortunately what happens on the outside of the Park is not within SanParks control. The local SAPS should address the matter, maar ja................ :wall:

The posting was made this morning. Guests are advised to use Phabeni Gate to enter and exit to and from Skukuza Camp as well as other safe alternative routes to reach their destinations until further notice.
