:funny:

I have a few places on my bucket list, thanks to the forum.

My next two musts are the tents at Punda and a total chill out at Sirheni camp.

I have pretty much fallen for tented accomodation. I find it good value and I love to have very little between me and the sounds of the bush.

:D It seems that Amarula has been tried, tested and is now trusted by many of us .

I think part of the excitement in the "olde days" was opening the letter informing a person of the accommodation allocated to you and the looking forward part to the day of departure to Kruger.

Today it so much easier as a person can just look on the availability list and book the accommodation that you want. But I still book the usual accommodation that I know or follow the advice provided on the forum to try new ones as I sometimes get a bit confused between all the FF, DD, DB codes and I do not want to be the first person booking that rondavel in advance with the best view over the Skukuza shop and car park :D .

MM we once stayed in the tents in Punda Maria based on the advice on the forum and we rated it a ten out of
ten experience

The "old days" method was how we got to know Berg n Dal. There had been such negative reports about "changing Kuger", so we never thought of booking it.

We were told that it was far too modern and what ever were they doing to Kruger?

It turned out to be a wonderful choice. The children, then very small, loved the swimming pool.

After 22 visits, I have done most, so we stick 90% to what we have come to love (and can afford).

The other 10% gets discarded or assimilated.

Words of wisdom, I think

Does anyone perhaps know what the code for the “old/historical” Struben cottage is on the Skukuza accommodation list? I do not see it :?

Thanks LQ , I also do not see when it is available or where it is on the accommodation list as I would like to stay in it for the historical importance that it has. Perhaps it is very popular and fully booked already as our next trip to Kruger is January next year.

According to Pretoria reservation house they got a note some time ago that there will be renovations on Struben. They haven't received a note to say it's available.

Can't get Skukuza on the line right now, maybe Lesego could help out???

Back to the original post, I always did Croc Bridge, Skukuza and Satara, always wanted to go to LS, but just never managed to do so. Now, this past year, I have been introduced to the northern part of the park, and although I still love the south, Punda, Shingwedzi and Tsendze grew on me, not to even mention Balule. So what I am trying to say is, try something new, and every holiday will be a new experience as well.

Next on my new adventures will be to visit KTP in two week's time for the very, very first time  .

I agree with Bush Baptist

I'd rather spend more days camping than checking out new accommodation
Mebbe it's something we all must get through over time to realize it's not the real reason why we visit

Think about it - you leave your chosen accommodation in the very early hours of the morning and return just in time for the fires to be lit - and you paid a premium for the view across a dark riverbed :) :) If you spend most of your time either inside or on the verandah of your chosen accommodation it would make sense to try them all at least once anyway.

Yeah Avon.

We usually spend very little of daylight in our units/tents.
