Agree, SeanP :D

Have a look at the photos and comments in the LOWER SABIE section of the very helpful and great Accommodation photos thread, Nimrod.

Have a look through Index to Best unit numbers
Its still a work in progress but can give you some idea in the mean time but as Stoffel has rightly said, they are all great.

Morning, I wonder if you guys can help me.

next week I want to book unit numbers for my trip first week in Feb as I have heard that one is able to reserve specific unit numbers two weeks before the actual booking with the camp, yet I am unable to find the correct camp details. I have found on the Sanparks page with camp details it states at the top that the details are "Not for Reservations!"

Would someone be able to help?

I am staying in Shingwedzi (EH3) and Letaba (BG3U) and Tamboti (CTT2)

Many thanks

If you just want to ask for a specific unit, just phone the camp give them your reservation number and ask them if they could secure those units that you would like

Hi K-4S,

All that means, is that you can't phone the camps to make reservations, you need to phone Central reservations or one of the other methods to make your booking.

As Carol stated, phone the camp and ask for the unit you want, they will then indicate whether still available or not. I've phoned up to a month before my booking date to ask for a specific unit.

Enjoy your trip.........

Some camps might want the request in writing (email or fax). I requested a specific hut in Balule and the main camp (Olifants) asked me to send my request by fax

E-MAIL the best. Send a request as soon as you book don't wait. These days if you wait somebody will already have booked.

I send e-mail requests to all camps the day I make a booking and within two days I will have received replies

Hi all, hope you are well? I am trying to contact the Satara Duty Manager regarding booking a specific unit (168). According to the link Elsa posted, Kate Katane is the manager, but I also noticed somewhere else on the Sanparks site that she is in fact at Skukuza? Thanks so much.

I always just call the number listed on the camp's contact page and speak to whoever answers. I've never had any problems doing this :)

Hi Graham_5000, I also want to book 168!!! Luckily not the same time as you  I phoned Satara and they said that I must just send them a fax with my top 3 unit numbers as well as my reservation number then they'll see what they can do. As far as I can remember they said 4 weeks in advance.

Thanks Squirrel & Gjorgi! I am glad that you aren't requesting 168 for the same dates as us Gjorgi - when are you going? Hope you have a great trip.

Wow have an amazing time - I loved Biyamiti last year - best camp I have been to. Try and get the bungalow with a view - careful though, it is about 20 metres to the fence and I nearly ruined the meat by nipping down to the fence every few minutes to take pics of passing game in the river bed!

Jip, apparently at Biyamiti you only have to phone a week before you arrive....smaller camp, less people to assign units for! Am going to ask for unit 8? How does that sound? Difficult choice though....meat, wildlife, meat wildlife...can life get any more cruel? :hmz:

Just about juggled the meat as I was slow cooking!

I requested my Biyamiti unit about 3 months before - it seems that different camps have different approaches. We stayed in number 5 NCO2+2V which I think is a little closer to the fence than number 8 if I remember correctly - shouldn't be much difference though.

I'm not sure if you are planning any drives with rangers, but my favourite sunset drive of all time was with Bridgeman from Biyamiti - a real treat, and as the camp is small, there is a good chance it would just be the two of you.
