Has anybody had an update from the powers that be what is happening about the new bridge, or has it been abandoned? :hmz:

Good question.

So much rain has fallen in the area that Croc Bridge gate was again closed - I was under the impression that the new bridge would be complete in time for the WCS. Maybe someone living in the area can give us more up to date info on the status of the old / new bridge.

The theory is that this time they will build it in the dry season - and I think were aiming at May.....

May - be the brains will be in operation this time and complete it before the next rainy season. Forget WC2010, remember the flood season, October to April.

The new, higher Crocodile Bridge entry into the Kruger Park from Komatipoort is nearing completion in october 2010, before the rains come. This will make access to this game rich area of the Park easier than before as the old low level bridge was prone to flooding. There is now no reason to avoid this wonderful area during the rainy season. The Croc bride gate is also the best gate to exit the Park into the quiet little town of Komatipoort with many guest houses and some restaurants for onward travel to nearby Mozambique and Swaziland.

Hey :naughty: are you trying to get our little bit of paradise overrun?

I would like to see a good rain before I comment on the bridge, but there is no restaurant or pool at Croc Bridge, and I don't see why anyone would want to stay there.

I agree with BB - no reason whatsoever to visit Crocodile Bridge Camp  - We camped there in August and were subjected to the friendly staff and clean ablutions  - best if others don't have to "suffer" the same :P

Yes, sitting here in camp in Croc Bridge next to fence, sipping sundowner, looking at impala, waterbuck, warthog - really horrible place to be!

Another reason to avoid CB is that there are so few roads to travel out of camp. You basically have to go north. Why not stay in a camp like Skukuza, Satara, or Lower Sabie where there are many more choices of roads and directions to take.

Much better

I am not talking about the bridge. It needs a test drive first. Any takers in the flood?
