Some people say that snakes sometimes live in the roofs of the accommodation units of Kruger. Is it possible? Luckily we have never encountered or seen snakes in or around our accommodation units in Kruger.

A staff member told me how when en route to the far north he overnighted in a tourist rondavel , a puff adder fell onto the table he was sitting at while enjoying dinner .

I wonder how many times a snake has crawled around in the thatch above the heads of unsuspecting guests, after all, Kruger is THEIR home

Not to mention Kobie Kruger who wrote in her books of her KNP experiences about the snakes that seem to appear from nowhere - they eventually concluded that they come into the houses via the sewerage system .

I remember that well, Hugh. I was very pleased that it was not my hut.

I have seen small snakes in the ablutions on a couple of occasions.

…. and I thought it was just an urban (Kruger) legend. What is so true is what Bush Baptist said: “Kruger is THEIR home”. Does the sewerage system include the ttttoilet ndloti?

Specifically the toilet in this case .

They sprinkled talcum powder on the floor in certain places and were thus by elimination able to deduce from where the snakes were entering their house .
