Me and a fellow forumite were in November at Sable hide and we enjoyed every scary moment of it
Just keep in mind that we were 2 ladies alone in the hide so it is fair that I was a bit frightened but totally exhilarated by the whole experience.
You did not make a mistake by booking the hide
Ok they have bedding available, if I'm 100% sure?
We paid R100 deposit and do ask for the braai grid (rooster) otherwise you won't have something to braai with
We almost made that mistake, if it wasn't for a friend of Wendy's that informed her about that.
The bedding was clean and comfy.
You get per bed a mosquito net, cushion, fitted sheet, sheet and duvet.
They are cleaned after every night.
And yes we had to return our keys and bedding the following morning.
We had ellies visiting us during the night and they were splashing and swimming in the sable dam.
It was a great sound to fall asleep to, unlike me Wendy was awake almost the whole night and she enjoyed their company tremendously.
We also heard lions roaring in the night whilst we were having our braai (that was my scary ordeal) as the fences are only 2m high and I have an imagination that will scare even the bravest
We also had impala (I know people say whatever) but they were babies and some teenagers were sparring that was very interesting for us.
Wendy actually booked another night now in April so it really is something special and an experience not to go by!
Here is some kiekies to show you what it looks like
They allow you to park inside and there in the farthest corner is the bathroom facilities.
Just remember that there are no bath/shower.
But they have about 4 20L water containers so that is how we bathed the next morning with a cloth and a lot of soap
Then here is some kiekies of the inside, there are 8 beds in the hide and you know the best thing of having the hide is the quietness.
We sat there in the darkness off the hide and the moon shined brightly, we could see the ellies in the dam and hear the night sounds.
Kruger was truly alive that night!
I hope this answered some of your questions.
The area is full of animals.
I know that there is a pack of wild dogs near Phala gate and leppies as well as cheetah.
We weren't' that lucky to see them but we were there only 1 night.
we saw general game, rock dassies and a lot of klipspringers which is a delight for me always.
You will not regret going there!
