Saw DQ recommending the Muntshe Loop in another thread.
Also a road i intended to do many times when looking at the map but never did. Looks like it goes through nice landscapes.
Any comments on this loop ?

I only used that road once. A hyena carrying a wildebeest leg is the only sighting I remember. But it was at noon on a hot day, so it wasn't the best time for sightings.

Did this road 2 weeks ago and was quite impressed, very nice and open, saw lots of buffalo and rhino, zebra and wildebees.
Reports of cheetah and lion have been mentioned there in last 2 weeks..

The whole area north of lower sabie to tshokwani is excelent in winter , up untill there have been rains , after that , its quiet ,
hence the mixed views of the area .

Done it once as I recall. Saw my only pair of reedbuck on this road. Otherwise uneventful except for a white rhino.

Did this road again on our last visit. Beautifull landscape. Ideal habitat for Cheetah!, but the grass were very tall. Seen absolutly nothing.

We did that loop in Feb this year and I agree, the grass was higher than the car, so not much to be seen at all, must be a bit lower by now tho still very thick.

I did this loop for the 2nd time at the end of May 2006. As luislang and Elsa already said, the grass was very long. The only sightings I had were wildebeest, doublebanded sandgrouse and stonechat. But it's very scenic, so even without sightings it's a loop I would always do again. :)
