Firstly if this isn't allowed please delete it!
Secondly I am sure I have seen a similar topic so if there is one (which I can't find) and this is allowed then please move it!

Well, firstly thanx to AWB for letting me know that there are aproximately 3000km of roads in the KNP.....some would think this presents many driving opportunities and many areas to explore - in fact for most of you out there would think I will never see all the roads!!!!

BUT then there is always the exception....there are those who create there own roads!

In over 20 visits accumulating to perhaps 150 days in the Park, one sees a lot but you come back and see different things each time and the day of the 28th Nov 2009 was no different. In fact I was so into my game viewing experience that it took me a while to comprehend what I was seeing!

Not to drag it out any further though, I was heading down to the Hippo Pools near Croc Bridge and was admiring a very relaxed warthog some 3 metres from the road providing me with some great photo opportunities.

This was the furthest he wandered from my car and so I decided I would go to the pools and carry on with my drive...
I then had to come bback past the warthog but could see a car some distance into the bush. About 20 scenarios rushed through my mind:
eg:
1: Ahhh great there is a new road I havnt seen before
2: Oh I wonder if those scientists are offroad looking at something interesting
3: Oh my gosh what...those people are off road what the &*#%!%$^!!!!! They must be watching a leopard or something drill this warthog I have just seen!

BUT no...this clever South African woman told me she was just 'trying to get a better view' when I gave her a serious shouting at!
Now tell me from these photos what view she was wanting and why it was necessary to drive offroad when clearly the warthog would have had been only closer had it been in the car???

I was fuming and told her I would report her - it wasnt easy at the camp so I left it to this forum to express my anger!
I hope this person/car can be banned from the park because it people like these that ruin it for everyone!

With our last visit to the park in November we`ve also find a guy that was out of the road and get in trouble by stuck in some mud. Againts the rules of stay in your vehicle, my husband think it good to help, but in the same time tell him if the cops find him he gonna be in big trouble. And so it happens. The next moment the cops arrived and he gets himself a well deserved fine.
On another place we find two cars park next to a dam, with all the passengers out, doing the toilet thing... not even turn there back to the road side   It was realy disgusting.

Hi o-dog,
Glad to hear that you told that person off. Hopefully she now knows the rules--but probably doesn't care.

I agree these..... what would be the right word to describe them... should not be allowed in the park! In Sept this year I spent a few days at Satara and arrived at a leopard sighting on a bridge a few km's from Satara. There this woman went past the sighting and stopped... got out of her car and walked back onto the bridge to few the leopard down in the river bed.... and then I lost it! The rest is history and I think she is still trying to figure out some of the words I said to her.  My veiw on this is.... if that leoprad or any other animal go for a person and hurts it or even worse it will be put down...but why must an animal die for an idiots behavior and just to get that photo or better view. If the person is put down Ill be more than all smiles! They are costing us our animals! :sniper: :sniper:
