Keem 'm coming.

The flower looks like Aloe excelsa, Zimbabwe Aloe. You also get Aloe angelica, Wylliespoort Aloe, with flowers that start out red and then turn yellow. Aloes tend to confuse me.

Those conspicuous trees in your pics, by the way, are Commiphora marlothii. Paperbark Corkwood. That jumble of rocks at the lookout, exposed to sun, wind and rain, is home to an amazing flora, including species you would never expect there, such as Shepherds Tree. If you look carefully you will even find Euphorbia aeruginosa, a species that's not even listed in Schmidt.

Just checked with someone who knows both Lanner Gorge and Aloes better than I do, and he suggests Aloe lutescens. The only common name I can find is Malapati Aloe (Flora of Zimbabwe).

Thanks Johan for those information
Besides this stunning view of the gorge, I agree with you , it's definitely an amazing flora we could not imagine to find on the rocks.
It reminds me Richtersveld park
I will post some other shots asap
Enjoy your day :)

Hi Guys, Really Beautiful pics, and thanks for sharing everyone.

It is surprising that I call myself a Northerner when I have Never been to Pafuri. All My Trips are to the North but I enter from Punda Gate, travel to Kanniedood Dam and back, and I have done this round more times than I can remember. Next time I should plan a day trip from Punda to Pafuri and back.

The Lanner Gorge area is so beautiful that we should consider it good fortune that it is so remote and difficult to access , otherwise it would be like most places where people frequent - cigarette ends and bits from plastic packaging and tissue paper and cellophane and ...,

Please treat us with more photos !

You know the SANParks at one stage actually planned to build a full-service rest camp right there? It was going to be called Eagle something-or-the-other. Am I ever glad that plan fell through.

Hi to everyone,
I enquired to Wilderness about staying a couple of nights at Pafuri camp. They replied that they don’t accept direct bookings and gave me the e-mail of their agent to plan my trip.
I don’t want to plan my trip with a travel agency or have a whole holiday with Wilderness, I prefer planning a self-drive trip on my own as I already did in South Africa before, sleeping mostly in SANP camps.
Some of you has previous experience about booking at Pafuri camp?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Flavia,
I stayed at different occasions at Pafuri camp and it's true they don't accept direct booking.I will pm some information for booking where you book only for nights and be on your own ,self driving, going to and from Pafuri.
During your stay , you have (nice) drives included in the price.

It's such a nice place in the nicest part of Kruger according to me
While writing this post ,I 'm wandering why i'm not doing any booking for 2013. :hmz:
I should hurry up

We stayed at Pafuri Camp for the first time in Sept this year. It was un unforgettable experience! Do not go if you don't want to fall in love with the place - because you are going to!

I wrote a TR on it - with photos incl Lanner Gorge. Follow the link:

Thanks to everyone!

Do you think is OK to stay two nights at Pafuri? To stay more could be interesting, but also too expensive.
