This is wonderful to hear. The food options in the Park in general have, to this point, been embarrassing.

I wonder if anyone can give a full list of what is on offer in the buffet and what times it is available from and to?

The price point is perfect too, I think.

Well done Tshokwane.

What a great idea! We could even have a Forum Potjie Get Together there on Sundays (if you are in the vicinity).

Nice idea Rooies, but who's gonna tend it all day when there is serious game viewing to be done?

We will leave the game viewing to mad dogs and Englishmen to go out during the mid day sun, while we are enjoying the potjie.

Tshokwane also has a mean kudu pie - sorry for the kudus  in the area- huge portion and very reasonably priced. I know everyone has always raved about the milktart but doesn't beat my grandmother's :D

Last month we had the most wonderful lunch at Tshokwane – the pap and wors with tomato and onion sauce. The smell of the pap coming from those big black iron pots was very appealing and a person could smell it from a distance. We could not help it but to be transported back for a short while to the days of Jock of the Bushveld, I am sure they also had pap and boerewors for a meal in the veldt in those days and it must have smelled similar. We enjoyed our time and lunch at Tshokwane picnic spot a lot.

Indeed a tasty lunch, Grantmissy. One never can go wrong buying that traditional padkos. Not sure what Jock ate, but I wonder if they had time to do boerie? :hmz:

We had our lunch there a week ago.....sigh.....and can report everything seems to be running smoothly food wise except the monkeys/birds are getting to be a real problem again, with a couple of the male monkeys becoming quite aggressive.
but the feeding of the birds continues by some folk who can't seem to follow what "Do not feed the birds or animals" means!
The monkeys go round at will and easily and continuously steal from unsuspecting people lunch tables.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and the baboons and vervets are a HUGE problem. We ate our lunch with our heads almost in the picnic box. But people do insist on putting out a huge spread with tablecloths, cutlery and all their food - they are asking for trouble. It seems like this is almost tradition in SA but it's not helping the rest of us eating our meal with thieving baboons around!!!

I would now avoid at all costs unless I needed the loo!!!!

What we do when there now is find a large stick and as soon as we see a monkey or one approaches, threaten him with the stick and then leave it displayed prominently. :naughty:
They seem to know when you have their number and will always try for an easier target.

We also try and keep the food covered as much as possible, even if you throw a cloth or something of the sort over the food they seem to be unaware its there and not any trouble
Well it has worked for us the last couple of times, maybe until they get wise to it!

We will be stopping there on Tuesday   and I have invested in a water pistol for all the "boys" in our party. :D
