SusieB I'll tell you why: We donated a bench to Biyamiti and it had not been delivered by the time we got there in June. No-one seems to know whether it has arrived or where it is. We asked if it could be put on the fence walk. If you happen to walk along the fence (between you and the river) please could you keep a look out? If the fence is on your left as you walk, it should be beyond the bird hide where the vegetation is wild. If possible maybe you could take a pic? It has a plaque on it saying something like

Donated to Biyamiti by Anne and Sal.
What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, man would die from a great loneliness of spirit.

If you cant find it or you don't have time to/ want to walk along the fence line please don't worry about it. This was just a thought!

Enjoy your trip and I hope you like Biyamiti. :D

Firstly I'm a jealous as anything as would love to go back!! The camp itself is in a great situation, lovely and quiet.
We also only stayed for 1 night and had some superb sitings! From the camp itself we had elephants along the dry riverbed night and morning. On the way into the camp along the private road in the evening we had a supeb leopard siting and then next morning on the way to the weir further along the road a group of lions right next to the road. Great birds in the area too!
I'm sure you'll love it!

The bench is there! I have to confess it was my husband Andrew who located it as time was tight. Sorry we forgot the pic, but it's definitely there in the area beyond the bird hide with the plaque as described. Hope this helps :D

Thank you so much Susie B, I appreciate that you managed to find the bench even though you were there for such a short time. We are delighted.

Of course he will not be too young, Karin

There is plenty of space inside the bungalow and in front of the verandah with plenty of brids to watch under lovely trees. No problem at all

It's a wonderful camp go for it....we spent just one night there in August this year and had great sitings of elephants passing through the dry riverbed right by the fence, which I am sure would make the experience interesting for a youngster.
As others have said the accommodation is spacious and plenty of space around outside too.
I can't wait to go back next August, it's my new favourite camp! :D

We try and include Biyamiti in every Kruger visit and our eldest daughter was there at age 11 months and at 2 years and enjoyed playing on the lawn and watching animals from the hide in the camp and taking a stroll along the fence.

Hey MG;

We have been to Biyamiti 3 times in the last 18 months and our kids were 2, 4 and 6 on the 1st trip. No problems

Some units are better suited for kids as they have a more open grass patch in front and others are in denser bush. There are also 4 unit types (NGC5V (5 of), NGC5 (5 of), NCO2+2V (4 of) and NCO2+2 (1 of)).

Below are the unit numbers of the ones that I find better suited for kids

NGC5V – 7 or 6 (These are probably, in my opinion, the best units even if you don’t have kids)
NGC5 – 15 or 14
NCO2+2V – 8
NCO2+2 – only 1 unit – 10

Phone the camp manager and see if he will help you out

Hi Cheetah Squire,
Great that you have a booking for this wonderful little camp, but having said that I have yet to experience it for myself!
But there are many who have and it gets very good reviews along with some awesome sightings along the private roads and surrounds.
Enjoy! :D

Hey Cheetah Squire,

Phone the camp manager and try and get unit 6 or 7, they are the best in the camp. Enjoy, it's an awesome spot.

Watch out for the elephants in this area - they are a little crazy

in Biyamithi you frequently hear alarm snorts at night, followed by that familiar rasping cough...

We were lucky last month (+_ 7 Sep) when we could sit on the bench in the lookout on the private road and watch a buffy been turned to a meal by (what i could see) eight lion. The kill was very fresh the first day and by day 3 it was dragged into the reads and the sighting a bit more challenging.

The nightdrive on the 'th also delivered four different lion sightings, totalling about 16 lions. My Canadian friends were quite impressed.

Depending on the type of unit you booked No 8 (NCO2+2V) is our favourite. There is a ravine between 8 and 7 and 8 is set more forward than 9 so when sitting on the veranda you feel you are alone. The braai of 8 is also set a little bit away from the unite towards the fence so is nice to sit around the fire, look out over the river with the fire going and a sun downer in the hand.

And yes there is some crazy ellies around there

Last time we were there, September this year, a big herd of elephants were blocking the road (towards the Weir) and they were not moving away at all.....
The first time we had to turn and went the other way....so yes....sometimes they are a little crazy.. 8)

You are standing eating a leisurely breakfast/lunch/dinner, what the heck, all day meal, and this silver grey can on wheels comes up to you and wants to get you to stop eating and get going, and they don't understand why we get irritable?
