Hi Landy1

You will get cellphone reception at the camp. Coming from Secunda we always approach the camp from the south at Malelane and not Croc Bridge because you will be quicker in the park. The road can take a bit of time to drive. Our best time from the gate to camp was 1,5 hours, but that was only because we were pushed to get to the camp gate before closing time and made it with 5 min to spare. On arrival other guest told us of a leopard less than 1km from the camp, but we had no time to go and have a look.

Our last visit was 3 weeks back and I wrote a TR as well. (sorry I do not know how to link) Look under Travel Tales for TR. Another forumite, Mel123, was also there at the same time and wrote a great TR viewtopic.php?f=27&t=49973&start=0

Hope you spot all the animals we've seen and lot more :D :D

Finally iv arrived at Biyamiti, what a beautiful place at the moment I'm sitting in the bird hide watching a buffalo in the riverbed. The bush is very thick but stunning. So good to hear all the sounds on a hot summers afternoon, ill update on game sightings later on prob go out for a short drive when it cools abit

What an awsome day here at Biyamit, lots of elephant and rhino also buffalo this morning we heard a pride of lion roaring just behind camp but could not find them. We did see a clan of 4 hyenea though. Tom will be going on a walk at 5 can't wait. But right now just sitting round the fire listening to the night loving life, scops owls, fiery necked nightjars and fruit bats AWSOME.

:D Hi there Matata :D Welcome

I shall appreciate any comments on Biyamiti - usually stay at LS, but cannot get any LST2U's during the time that we want to visit. Therefore made a booking for Biyamiti, CO2+2V, the smaller units with a view, for 2012.

Looking forward to hear from you. In the meantime ENJOY every moment there. From what I hear, Biyamiti is

Hi all, can anyone tell me if there are microwave ovens and/or regular ovens (I know there are stovetops) in the bigger (NGC5/V) units? I hv booked a group (6 guys) into Biyamiti and they're not keen chefs so quite particularly want to find out about the "exact" cooking facilities. Not sure if they're into braai ... may influence what they buy before entering the park (perhaps even microwave dinners?!?)

Thanks, I haven't personally stayed here before (duck) although I have visited some of the units but can't find my photos anywhere.... I think I lost them in that hard drive crash :wall:

We normally camp so I'm more familiar with the exact facilities of camp kitchens!

Hi, we stayed at Biyamiti in Nov 2009 and there was a microwave as well as the usual stove plates and braai so you have plenty of choice! Still cant beat a good braai though :-)

Good day all
I have booked into biyamiti for a few days at the end of March and was wondering about the heat at that time of the year seeing as the bungalows have no aircon, will it be okay

Hi shrew and a warm welcome to the forum.

By the end of March the night temps shouldn't be too bad, if its hot open all the windows and just enjoy the atmosphere and the night sounds.
Enjoy the wonderful camp.

hi shrew,

It all depends if there is a cold front coming over KNP. We stayed at Tsendze for the last week of March and found it extremely hot until the first week of April when a cold front passed over together with a large thunderstorm in the evening and rain the next day

After Tsendze we stayed the first week of April at Biyamiti, while it was still very cloudy and found our stay to be very pleasant and cool compared to Tsendze. Biyamiti chalets have fans in and wire mesh slide door if you want to stay inside with the door open. Mornings are already chilly, but as I say weather can change just like that back to very hot. In general I found the south warmer in winter during the day than in summer due to frequent rain in summer.

There are lots of shade in the camp and you should be fine without air-con. This is one of my favourite camps so I hope you will enjoy it as much as we did. If you want to avoid traffic jams you will have lots of options around Biyamiti to travel and you do not need to travel very far to see the Big 5. My top spots around this camp are Biyamiti weir and loop, S119, S25 (high water bridge over Biyamiti river), Bume road and Mpondo dam besides the camp road.

They do have got fans in Biyamiti in each room

We stayed already 3 times in February in different years in Biyamiti and although it was hot during the day it cooled down the night and if you open all windows you can sleep very well without aircon
