I would have to say:

1. Shongalolo Loop
2. S90
3. S100 but only for the first 30 minutes after the gates open. One of the best after the rush is over and the Lions come out behind the bushes
I can't think of any other. Maybe the tarr road north of Shingwedshi.

I'm so glad most people dont like the Mopani area. You just have to know how to spot the cats in the Mopani bush. The first 5km of the Shongalolo Loop southern entrance is a great area for Leopard. In the Mopani area you have to look for lion tracks along the road, they lead you right to them haha.

Dr, Dr ... when you say the s90 ... do you mean the entire stretch? Have seen lion 100% of my trips down the short stretch of the s90 that meets up with the s41. And minimal traffic!

H1-6 from Mopani to Shingwedzi (till hit hits the river)
The landscape (mopani) and no sightings ever

And the S40 towards Timbavati Picnic site

Never so anything special on any of these roads
Done the H1-6 4 times
And the S40 about 10 times

Funnily enough I've never had anything interesting along the H7 between Nsemani dam to the Rabelais turnoff.

For me it's definitely the sandton highway between skukuza and lower sabie - it is just too busy :wall: The past weekend we had a nice viewing - there was a lovely lioness under a shrub and everyone drove to the shrub, saw her, took a picture and moved on allowing everyone else to see her as well - it was so nice to experience

cheetah2111;

That is a great sighting.

Have to admit more than 20km north of Shingwedshi we have seen some Lichtenstein hartebees before. I don't like that first bit of tar north of the river. But will endure it to get to the other side and up to Pafuri.

The S90 part between the intersection with the S41and Balule is the part I don't like.

I once saw a Temminck's courser on the S90. Not much else though.

I am happy with most roads , apart from those where you your teeth and everything else is shaken loose by corrugation

For me it is definitely the Mopani/Maroela? loop (the one at Punda), for no other reason than the elephants that hide behind the smallest bush and then charge you for no reason despite the fact that you ALWAYS respect them and keep the longest respectful distance from them (so much so that other cars pass you laughing) . I am so afraid that I will die alone on that road just because I did not see an elephant in time. All other roads are fine even if there is no animals it is heavenly to watch the bush because there is always something happening no matter how small and it is never the same from one minute to the other.

Only one bad road in my opinion - the 1750 km from Cape Town to the Phabeni gate

Too dry hey. there is a long stretch without water sources until you get to Bangu. So best results when its a wet time of year
Rather go up the s39 on the Western side. It will not disappoint

Arrived back in "Slaapstad" yesterday after doing the long trek north to Kruger and back again along the N1 and N4.Took me 12½hours to get home from Bloemfontein with a stormstrengh wind blowing from the front and stopping about 8 times for roadworks-will take the highway between Lower sabie and Skuks anytime above that!
