I would recommend # 40 which is the last tent at the far end of the camp alongside the boundary fence , which is about 2 metres from the stairs to the deck on which the tent is situated .

Phone the camp and request a contact person to whom you could fax your request .

It is , 30 - 40 are all LST 3 tents .

You are right ! There are 10 LST 3 tents .

Quite a cost difference between the standard and luxury tents. Are the luxury tens worth the extra, or are the communal facilities abundant enough?

In my opinion the communal facilities are good enough .
The LST 3 units are larger , and if you want to total privacy they are the war to go .

I agree with that Forest

I have always found the communal ablutions to be very clean and well serviced. I do advise people to make sure that they take a flask if they enjoy more than one cup of coffee in the morning. The kitchen area is rather far from some of the tents.

I am staying at Tamboti in April this year for 2 nights. Can anyone tell me if they run sunrise game drives and guided bush walks from this camp please?

Although I have not stayed at Tamboti, I have stayed at Orpen. From my experience there and through this forum I understand that drives leave from Orpen and pick up campers from Tamboti. Just confirm where they pick you up from.

I too have booked a night at Tamboti and cannot wait judging by the comments on this thread. Hope we have a wonderful time.

If I remember correctly , you are collected at the 1st
ablution block.

What an awesome camp! Had my first stay there, the place is magical.

Had no luck with big predators but there was plenty of black backed jackal and plains game around. Did here the lions every night though

Stayed at tent number one, the view of the river is a little restricted by the trees, but nevertheless it doesn't detract from the experience

I think it just might be my favourite camp!

Welcome to the forum sonjob.

There is a long thread on Tamboti and I am sure the mods will merge yours with it soon.

Tamboti has no shop - nearest is Orpen 2 km down the road.

All the tents are strung out in a line, and you should have some view of the river, but trees - giving shade - mght block your direct view.

The fridge is normal Kruger size, with a freezer compartment. The unit has a fest spinning fan to cool you off.

Each tent is raised on a deck with a stoep with a plastic table & chairs.
Each tent has a braai, and you can get from one to the next quite easily.

Otherwise all I can say is

doobs, it depends on which type of safari tent you have at Tamboti. The basic tents don't have any utensils, but the 'luxury' tents do come fully equipt.

As for your other question, about restaurants, while I can't report from personal experience, I've read recent reports here on the forum that Olifants is excellent, while LS is currently dreadful.

The luxury tents " L" in booking code have all essentials .
The C tents make use of communal kitchen but u need own pots, dishes and utensils. (paper plates, plastic cutlery, tongs and 1 pot can do it)
I think all tents have own braai?

I've booked 2 nights in a 4-person safari tent (CTT4) in September.
Which of the tents has the best views, so I can specify this? (The earlier links to the camp maps on this forum seem to be broken).
Last year I stayed in a 2-person tent and the bush around was so thick we didn't have much of a view... would like to avoid that now (perhaps bring my gardening tools to do some pruning?
