Glen, we camped on the 'other' side so did not use that ablution block. I did use it a year ago, and it seemed fine to me.

I prefer the 'other' side because if one is really lucky one can get the bottom level site next to the fence ... lovely shade, fence, birds ... and away from the madding crowd.

Slept in Skukuza 35 years ago on honeymoon, 2 nights 4 years later with our first son, and only went back this year. VERY BUSY place over Xmas period!
Safari tents = OLD but still lovely!
No 314 along the fence was a stunning setting with lovely shade (4 bed). 320 is also right against the fence. Amazing sounds at night -- frogs, crickets etc. Last night 7 hyenas killed an impala close by -- people saw them eating it. The sounds were incredible and spine chilling!
Will go back again.
God bless,
Friedrich von Hörsten

We have a few questions.

1. What time is the afternoon Skukuza bush walk?

2. Does it go daily?

3. Is there a minimum number of people required for the bush walk to take place?

Hey duncanblizzard,

Afternoon walk starts at 15h30 from 1 Apr to 30 Sep and from 16h00 from 1 Oct to 31 March.

It's a daily activity. I'm not sure about the min nr of people .. but I would expect 2 to be the min ...

For more info you can also have a look at this page - Skukuza Afternoon Walk.

Also there are these activities as well : Skukuza Activities.

Hope this helps a bit :)

Thank you! Somehow I've missed those activity detail pages.

And it looks like you have to be staying at Skukuza to do the walks given that they arrive back at camp as the camp closes.

Hi all :gflower:

Could someone pleeeeeeease give me some feedback on Skukuza's "LB3" accommodation? I know it's part of the semi-luxury bungalow range, but I can't seem to find them on the camp map :hmz: Has anyone stayed in one of these units? Anyone have any idea where they are??

Any feedback or pictures would be greatly appreciated!

I haven't stayed in Skukuza since I was about 5 years old and have decided that I may want to brave the crowds this September and give it another chance

Hi guys

I'm coming up to Skukuza in early March to camp in the campsites. Can anyone tell me if you get the hyenas that patrol the fence line like you do at Satara? I've seen them there before a few years ago but on chatting to an avid Kruger fanatic the other day he says that they don't come to the fence anymore...Has anyone seen them there and are they regulars as at Satara?

I've got a friend staying with me from America and thought it might be a good experience for him to see them there but I am not to sure anymore if they still patrol the fence line.

Will be looking forward to your replies.

Hi Jenky

They were most certainly there last October when we camped along the fence. One night they made a heck of a noise and others in the camp told us it was because the hyena had killed an impala.

I don't think there are many camps in Kruger where Hyenas don't patrol the fence line!
