Why do we love the Kruger park so much ? Just talking or reading about it makes you want you to go back again and again

I think firstly its very peaceful , secondly you dont know what to you going to see or expect . If you knew exactly where each animal is , like in a zoo , it wont be any fun

I also believe kruger is like life , you have your good times and times to ponder

Take the right road and it changes everything , same like in life make a good decision and your life can change and vice versa

Enjoy that moment with the lion or leopard because you dont know if you will see another one again , same like life enjoy the best moments and make the best of it

Chasing towards sightings doesnt always yield results , sometimes just relax choose a route and enjoy every moment , even if you dont see anything , you will still experience peace and tranquility

Only people who love the kruger can understand it , a person who is not into the kruger will not understand why you go over and over to the same place , it is truely a piece of paradise

Your thoughts?

This also applies to Kgalagadi, Shabu. Those who have never been there will also not understand.....

Shabu, what a wonderful post.

I stop many times, anywhere.. and wait.

I do not wait for animals, I wait for the response of my own heart.

Shabu the reason why I love Kruger so much are:

 It is a unique and vast area where animals and nature are protected and where nature conservation is priority.
:D The atmosphere that reminds me of bygone days.
:D The traditional accommodation and camplife that breathes a sort of subconscious Kruger ”way of life” of some kind which I do know how to describe exactly.
:D Peace, tranquilly and touchable quietness.
:D And then those picnic spots with all the very healthy food that go with it and if you are lucky you could see elephant close-up at Mooiplaas.…

We totally agree .

We love the Kruger because it's the closest to heaven on earth. Once through the gates you are in a totally different world where you can forget about everything going on outside..........
no radio, no tv.......wonderful!

Time is timeless, lifestyle so relaxing.

Please nobody change that.

My last Kruger visit ended rather abruptly.

as I did my last drive, feeling utterly gutted, I passed a warthog family with about 12 little ones.

I was elated.. a vehicle stopped next to me, wanting to know my excitement.

I pointed out the warthog family.. they drove away; almost angry.

why do I love Kruger :hmz: .. I honestly have no expectations. I can just love the moment.

MM, that is exactly it - no expectations. You don`t have to see things, you simply experience things. It is a metaphysical thing.

Oryx, I agree.

I often just stop and listen, allow the smell, the fragrances to touch me.

I also believe, there is.. a spirit of Kruger.

Those who missed the celebation of life provided by Family Warthog most probably do not know this. Father and Mother Warthog must have a very busy time looking after 12 bundles of mischief :D

Very Nice topic ,

The Kruger is heaven on earth, it is amazing how you can be having a bad day, week, or year, but as soon as you cross through the entry gates, it all fades away. Nothing else matters, this magical place just allows you to forget all and just enjoy.

It’s those special places those loops those waterholes those picnic spots those lookout points those camps those specific camping spots those special sightings those etc etc ... I think you get the picture

Kruger is more than a park, it a way of life ...

It is truly a place where everything can get to a standstill. Sure its nice to go to the beach but then you are more tired when you get home than when you started your vacation.

You can rest without sleeping in Kruger. Even if you drive every day the whole day you still somehow rest. and feel fresh the next morning before the gates open.

Growing up with 3 Kruger visits a year there is a longing  to go back at every opportunity even if just for 2 or 3 days.

MM I totally understand the elation about the shallow pigs  I once started a roadblock because there was a huge shallow pig next to the road. Everyone thought there must be something with big teeth somewhere since I was taking photos like a mad man :cam: . Well the pig had some huge tusks

They couldn't find what I was looking at, surely no-one can take that much interest in a pig, so I left them there to keep searching

We love Kruger because Kruger is peace and tranquility.

Somebody else called it the African virus - once you have it, it stays forever. The only temporary cure is to go back and back and back - as many times a year as you can. For me it is only once a year, if I am lucky. Needless to say, it is the highlight of the year   and every visit proves to be better than the previous ones   There MUST be something spiritual about Kruger.

Hi all

I'm a newbie on the forum, have been following the postings for a year and would like to thank you all for the wonderful and informative information you post on the forum.

Last October we stayed in the Park for the first time, was suppose to be a short stay of 2 nights but unfortunately on the second day we received a phone call that we had been burgled, so we set off on the long trek back to the East Rand... :wall: ... Nevertheless we had an awesome sighting of a Leopard about 12km from Lower Sabie on the the Skukuza/LS road... He was lying down in the road watching a herd of impala about 150 metres away and we had him all to ourselves for about 10 minutes which I couldn't believe cause that particular road is like the N12 during peak hour traffic... :D

Anyway, the reason why I posted on this particular topic is cause the experience of being with this Leopard far outwayed the fact that we had been burgled at home.

Will be back in the Park this April, can't wait....

PS. I will post the pics of the Leopard tomorrow....
