This road has a plains vegetation, it has been our ace up our sleeve on our last trip. We were the only people travelling the road one morning and saw Duke, 3 Cheetah & a Black Rhino on it, this really is a hidden gem for early morning drives.

How has your luck been on this road?

The view from Mlondozi picnic spot alone makes this route worthwhile. One morning at the junction of the S29 and the H10, we had a lioness feeding on a zebra carcass on our left and 3 cheetah just finished an unsuccessful wildebeest chase on our right. After that excitement had died down, we made our way to the picnic spot, where there was an elephant literally in the parking lot and 3 white rhino down at the dam. Since then, this loop has become an essential part of our itinerary, but never again with anything approaching the same degree of luck. Those 3 cheetah seem to be spotted frequently on this road.

I have done this road only twice. Personal experience on this road is not good at all.

Hi Donny

Have travelled the S29 on many occassions and usually one does not see much game. However, the grass is quite short and there are few trees ( after numerous fires in the recent past ) so one often sees elephant, Rhino and buffalo.

The main reason for using this road is to visit the superb Mlondozi dam.

Thanks for the reply Henche.

Yes,given the open spaces one would think that perhaps cheetah would favour such an environment but no game were to be seen. However I would have to agree that Mlondozi dam is special.

Impala, waterbuck, fish eagles, crocodiles , egyptian geese and other birds were to be seen.

Just like to know if the cats are seen on this road & how often.

We have encountered cheetah on the road up to the picnic site and then on S29 itself, seen lion, rhino, ellies, zebbies, ostrich's, various buck and birds.

Hi Donny.

My most specil sighting on that particular road was a mom and baby white Rhino just after the "elbow" heading back towards LS.

I have seen lions just outside Mlondozi and a lone ellie bull just after we truned onto the S29.
