We have just had an unusual sighting on the rocks below the weir of a blacksmith plover killing another plover! It was horrible to see as the poor bird struggled to get away while it was being pecked to death- we first thought they were mating until we realized it was a death struggle. I will post a photo when I get. Back home.

They are so protective of their nesting sites, so I guess the other bird was in the wrong place!
but yes, can imagine that was a distressing sight.

The sad part of nature I guess! :?

This is a pic of how it looked in Feb this year after the damage caused by the Jan floods.
All fixed up now!

Good day all

How is the weir road at the moment? Is it opened / closed / being repaired?

Thanks

When we were there only recently there was still a great amount of water running over the weir and I guess that is why that part of the road is still closed - The weir itself looked, however, not damaged
