Thank you Spotted Cat, for puting the lion in highlight for me. I posted the lioness this morning in highlights after starting a thread for Orpen but Shadowdog sent a pm to say that they had also started a thread for today so I deleated mine, hope it was OK to leave the lioness in highlights.

You did just right in highlights, Sammy Always leave lions!!! Mods can merge double postings for us. Just let them know. They are great about it.
It is hard to know when you are there, so doubles do happen just can't have doubles for the same starting date. To confusing to know where to post.

Thanks for clearing this issue for us Matthys I always assumed that that was the case. Previously Shadowdog actually PM'ed me to post my sightings in the highlight thread. Don't know why things changed

While we are clearing issues (and helping newbies too )....
Please post sightings in the daily cam sightings, before posting them as highlights.
The highlights should be just that - highlights from the daily sightings.
It will prevent further confusion !

I must admit (and I'm probably going to be stepping on some toes, but I've unfortunately done so before with my #12 shoes as well, so know the feeling of getting clobbered for do so ) that I did a double-take when reading this.



Are we a bunch of pre-schoolers? "No, you can't have that, I saw it first!" Being "first to post" does not necessarily mean "being first to see". I've had many times where I was looking at the screen, see the new pic coming in, but by the time I've managed to do all to post, somebody else, with faster internet connections, have posted it. Then just post the next picture, or one after, or just leave it if it is not so serious. So what? I may not have posted it, but I HAVE SEEN IT. Isn't THAT what it really is all about? Seeing and enjoying?

And I've looked through the Webcam etiquette - a guide - there's nothing on who can post a highlight and who not.

And then posting to the Highlights? Really, my highlight and somebody else's highlights are most definitely not the same. I've seen stuff posted, and think "what the heck? If that is your highlight, good for you!" And I would think other people has thought the same about things I've posted.

And if more than one poster is posting about the same scene? Who then is "supposed" to decide that is good enough to go to the highlights? The first? And how long "must the others wait?" Five minutes? Ten? An hour? Or four? Forever? Isn't the idea to have it there for others to see and enjoy, rather than to keep score of "who got it first?" Maybe I must just find other parts of the forums to enjoy. Sjeesh!

Some people take life too seriously. Especially the small things. Maybe I'm just taking this too seriously.

I have also tried to post a pic to the thread...but others have more experience and are too fast for me....c'est la vie....

But a good capture is like a game trophy...should credit not be given where credit is due?

Of course credit should be given where it is due, such as Spotted Cat did (albeit slightly incorrect I understand?) when posting the lion pics, as can be seen right at the top of this topic.

If one wasn't there, didn't see the post? Give credit, or even PM the person to post - I've also received PM's from mods telling me to post something to the "Highlights", which only me had posted to the cam's topic.

But if more than one was watching and posting? Whose is it to post to the highlights? The first poster, who doesn't even think about it till hours later? Should be it any of those watching at that time?

It doesn't matter at all who posts it. I have in the past copied webcampics to the highlights topics as I thought they belonged there.
Posted by others, but a little footnote, and done.

Good grief...I just came across this rule for posting in highlights. I am so sorry for stepping on so many toes. I am now clear on the rules of the highlight. I just would get so excited about seeing something I didn't think of the ownership of the pic!

The mods are looking at this issue and trying to find a solution that will be to the good of all.
