It looks like a stonechat although the throat seems a little bit too white. I say African Stonechat.

Looks like too much white below the throat for a Stonechat male unless the bird is looking AWAY from the camera (can't really see) which means the white is its shoulder patch.

I'd go with a Stonechat male. Right locality, right perching place.

I agree, thats why I also said too much white. But the bird is a bit far away and the angle of the head like you said is not 100% recognisable.

It could also be a cape batis. The photo is not to clear unfortunately.

I can't make out any russet colour on the back so I rule out cape batis. I will stick with my first guess which is African Stonechat.

Definitely not Cape Batis environment. Also, Cape Batis has a distinct grey cap.

I agree with you and WTM on this on.
As you said right locality, Typical perching on a stick, the tail etc.
I'm sure it's just the angle of the pic that the white shoulder patch seems infront. Sure the head is just turned a bit.
