Just a bit of trivia. 66% of all the Kingfisher species in the world does not eat fish.

I actually saw one last week in Marloth (next to Croc River)….was not able to get a pic because the bird flew into somebody’s yard and the angel on my one shoulder told me it will be bad manners to race in there  :wall:
I have not yet heard one tho……
We’ve noticed that around April, just before they start migrating, they stop singing…you think they are gone already because you do not hear them…but they are still around.
When I saw this bird last week, I was wondering if some of them don’t arrive earlier than the date we normally see/hear them..15 November….and are just quiet the first few week? :?

I took these two pictures of the Woodland Kingfisher at Biyamiti. We were there in early March 2011 and around every bush one could hear one of these birds calling out.

Even though they were everywhere to be heard, strangely I could never get a decent photo of them.
