Are your YELLOW BILLED KITES still in your area or have they disappeared for 4 or 5 months.
I haven't seen many recently in or around Durban.
They may have taken off before Irina hit us. :o

I did see one cruising over lower Durban North this morning between the showers of rain.

I love watching these kites swoop and swerve with their tails acting as rudders and there were plenty around at the end of October. The nest was at Sable Dam and the other pics were taken at Lower Sabie.

Magnificent kites in flight pics and the kites on nest pic is also great.
How did you get on same level to peep in nest?
Thanks, Granjan

Great pics, saw lots of them in Kruger the first two weeks of this month.

YBK's put a big smile on my face. I love raptors, and seeing them soar effortlessly just makes me grin.

KITE WATCHERS ALERT!
I am still seeing kites in Durban, though I don't think as many!
Lets have a daily KITE Report so we get a good idea of when the bulk of them depart.
:great:
