This young Bateleur was having a great time catching flying ants on the S86 and allowed me to get fairly close. Taken in Nov 2010.

Thanks FC. Likewise a great pic of an adult Bateleur. I always know I'm in the Park when I see these magnificent acrobats in the sky. :D

Stunning!!

You know, when I look at these photos all over the forums, I realise that with my little 10x zoom FinePix S1000 I just won't be able to take photos of birds - it's like a spec in the photo... "You see that there? That's the bird"

Maybe, one day, when I'm big and my ship has arrived... (But then, with my luck, it will come via Somalia... )

Hi

This - there were 2 raptors on different branches of a tree. The other was easily identifiable as a juv bateleur with the typical blue- greyish colour on the face, but this one did not have that colour. But still it did look similar in appearance to a juv bateleur. Any ideas pl??

Cheers

Sandeep

This one is the right shape but wrong colouring. The giss (general impression of shape and size) is right for juvenilie Bateleur, but the yellow beak confuses me.

@ Sundeep

I would agree on a Juvenile Bateleur.
