A couple more that have me stumped, seen along the R407 north of Prins Albert (not sure whether this is considered Karoo or Klein Karoo?) on 6 October 2009. And also I had inadvertently — have NO idea how  — set my camera for tungsten exposure, hence the "blue wash" on these pix

This I would have thought might be a chat or flycatcher, except that there is no "edging" on the wings and the chest appears too pale for the Karoo chat?

Photo 1 and Photo 2 is a Karoo Chat. I am fairly certain of this.

The light underside indicates te Chat in the two photos.

I did change the light on my computer but I am struggling to get the pictures to show on the forum. The photos are uploaded to Flickr. Is it possible to share the Flickr link so the photos show in the forum?

Thanks JenB and DuQues!

Enjoy

Many, many thanks, Hanno, for your above-and-beyond efforts with my pix — and for your definitive IDs.

Those were the last of my "mystery birds" from my recent trip, and I find that I have added another 11 lifers to my list

Is this perchance a sicklewinged chat? Seen 12 September 2011 at Karoo NP.

Arks, I am not 100% sure but what about the Karoo Chat the upper back and neck is more greyish

I also agree with Ladybirder, Karoo Chat based on the markings of the tail.

Thanks, Ladybirder and pantera leo. I thought that the wings were too brown for Karoo chat, but the white on the tail does seem "conclusive" Chats, larks and pipits continue to baffle me  :wall:
