Thanks Simon for adding those very useful images and hopefully the answer to what has been a real head-scratcher over the last year or two...

I think we have all learnt a lot out of this extremely interesting bird - I know I certainly have...

Wow! Thanks Simon - you've finally caught the parents responsible for this puzzle with their offspring in one pic! The puzzle is finally solved! And Trevor - what a guy to have known this, and stick to your guns - finally we now have the photographic proof. Jungle fever...

I wonder :hmz: . Are the offspring fertile? Are we going to see these okies all over the place in a few years time? :hmz:

I saw one of these Hybrid lapwings at Lake Panic this morning... To me it seems as if this hybridization is not as rare as was initially thought.

Yip there seem to be a lot of them around! Those naughty lapwings are taking this whole diversity thing way too far

Also at lake panic.

I also thought juvenile long-toed lapwing when I first saw it, but if it was a juvenile it would have grown up a long time ago  For me the clincher against a juvenile LTL is the fact that the feet of a LTL are quite different... it has really long toes

This one is a bit too evil to post as a challenge bird
