Location: Johannesburg - where they cut down trees and name streets after them.
Cape Rock-Thrush
Monticola rupestris

Habitat:
Mountainous and rocky terrain, both inland and coastal.

Habits:
Solitary or in pairs. Perches on top of a rock, when allarmed or to sing, sometimes flicks wings. Forages mostly on ground, also feeds on flowering aloes. Attracted to burned areas.

Food:
Insects, spiders, molluscs, small frogs, nectar, fruit, seeds.

This is such a beautiful bird! We had our sighting at “Herrie se Klip” in Meiringspoort.

On the ridge above the Eagles's nest at Walter Sisulu BG where this one was quite tame....
